If you have your head down, you are going to get hit

It's literally hockey 101

- jcragcrumple

"Keep your head up" at all times. Literally drilled into my head by every coach i had since about Pee Wee or maybe even Novice. But I am an old coot at 54 and back then, we had full on body checking right from when you strapped on skates, unlike today where they ban checking until they are 12 or 13.

Laine got smoked by a clean hit by McCabe. And any defenceman worth his salt would step in and do the exact same thing 100 out of 100 times. This is one of the reasons why I don't want McCabe traded. If we trade him and Risto, who the heck is going to hit someone out there - Pilut?

I think we had hitting at 8 or 10 (I'm 29). The two things that were drilled into our heads:

Don't hit someone when you see the numbers on their back

And

Keep your head up

Yeah, Risto, McCabe and Bogo are the most physical

Buffalo fans.

We want good players on this team.
But not that good player or that one.
Let’s go find pretty (frank)ing meaningless stats to show why player is not good. Who cares is said player can score 35-40 goals per year consistently.

We also don’t want to give up anything to get them nor do we want to pay their salaries. We need cap 16 years down the road to pay for the guys we are going to draft in 10 years.

- ImThatGuy

Other Buffalo Fans

Trade for, and sign players that would make even Tim Murray blush by the amount of assets tossed the other way and dollars/term on the contracts .

Colin Miller and Brandon Montour are actually pretty physical at times

Montour especially for a “finesse” player.

Yeah, 100% agree. I think the worst chicken-poop play in hockey is drilling someone from behind into the boards on their blind side when they are 2 or 3 feet away. This is why I couldn't stand Kaleta as a Sabre.

I have absolutely no problem with clean, hard hits if someone is skating anywhere with their head down and they have the puck.

The other thing the coaches used to say to us defencemen - "when in your own end, NEVER put the ice up the middle." I think Bogo must have missed those practices when he was a Pee Wee or Bantam player.

Tim Connolly had the nastiest head fake of any player I have ever watched.

He could get a guy to go the wrong way with a little twitch

best sabres line I have seen since patty and mogilny was timmy, max and kozlov

they played for about 10 games, and a b!tch of a line to play against

then kozlov got his leg sliced by a skate I think, and they never reunited

He went full Force into him he could have eased up he knew Patrick Laine would have his head down and then look up quick

Hits are cool and all but not the ones you’re Half blind those are the ones that End careers

- gerbe75pts

dude, you are taught at the age where you hit to not let up because that's when you get hurt. It's Laine's fault he put himself in that situation, and partly Schiefs fault for the pass. McCabe did everything correct
