Conditional 3rd and 12.5% retained to flip Lucic for Neal. I think that’s a win for Holland.

That’s good for us

I’m still happy with that.

Not rolling my eyes at you.

That was directed at our in-house chlamydia outbreak that is beginning to spill over into the Flames thread and the main thread. We need to contain it or face litigation.

Oh. I thought you were chastising me for conversing with him/her/it.

I find these terms acceptable.

Just being able to expose him to Seattle is worth that, although it might cost more to make sure he gets claimed.

Still, that's a progressive day. So happy dimjim didn't pick him up.....yet.

We don’t have to protect Lucic or Neal so that’s victory in itself

If Seattle doesn’t take him, buy him out. This is a good deal for Edmonton. A decent amount of cap space next year, Holland will be in a way better situation, he’s done ok while being handcuffed. Probably a rough one ahead haha.

I was just pointing out you might have to give up more to get him off of the roster and open up cap space in a couple of years.

I like what Holland has done so far. There's no use making sweeping changes until you get a chance to know your organizational depth.

Plus you just can’t fix everything that is wrong with this team in one offseason considering the mess that Chia left behind

Buying Neal out will cost us 1.9 million

Chia among others I agree.

There's still a lot of young talent in Edmonton, it can't be helped after drafting so high for so many years.

I wasn't crazy about the Broberg pick, but i really like Lavoie in the 2nd. Boom and/or bust IMO.

I think you guys are in good hands.

I know, might have to sweeten it with Seattle, but I wouldn’t give them to much. 1.9 is a lot better than the alternative. Cap relief is coming. There is going to be room to fill all of the holes, I like holland in charge of that more than chia.

Even if Seattle doesn’t take him this trade allows us to protect someone we want as opposed to Lucic....that’s my main take away from this deal

I’m pretty happy about it seeing as some experts said it would cost us a 1st to do it and retain 50% this is much better AND the Flames have to protect Lucic at the Seattle draft

I’m looking for the upside for the flames but I can’t find it. Unless it’s the million in cap space.

Maybe Neal has a few good years, leadership for an expansion team. If he doesn’t, they lose on some toughness and intimidation. They have Kassian, nurse, jujhar. This is a good move. All we can hope for is a season where some guys surprise, then they have room after that. If no one steps up, we’ll its going to be a rough year. Probably a rough year

That million isn’t worth having to protect Lucic....just my opinion tho
