His career avg. shooting % over 82 games would've had him at that total last year.

True, but you must admit it is an oddly specific pair of conditions.

If he gets 21 goals I’ll be very happy....we will have to see who he plays with and staying healthy too

Does it become another pick? That's a funny (frank)ing condition, and I wonder what years it applies in.
- golfingsince

The pick is for the 2020 draft and if the conditions aren’t met then there is no pick moved....but yes it really is an odd deal

Basically if Lucic becomes a 4th line plug and Neal is playing top six then you owe us a 3rd.

Just hope for a big year from Lucic.

That way, if Neal is a hole at 5 vs 5 but produces on the PP no 3rd.

I wonder what the Flames angle is? Just trying to be heavy Calgary style?

I have no idea.....I guess the idea was lack of grit is why the Flames lost so they might feel that Lucic fills that void

No such thing as a bad time to be drunk in Florida.

Is there such a thing as a “wrong week” to be drunk in Florida?

The Flames angle is they watched Neal play 63 games for them last season and there literally isn't one positive thing you could say about how he played. They save a bit of cash and Lucic might punch some people in the face, so it's a win.

Alright so half the article I was prepping is no longer relevant 😅 Gonna hope that Neal can mesh with Nuge and Benson now! That or hope Neal can be Maroon+ and bump Kassian down with Nuge n Benson? Maybe Jurco or Nygard beat Benson for that spot.

I'll sit the realistic and hopeful bet at 14G.

I’m not expecting much as I said in previous posts but at least I won’t be subjected to anymore Lucic unless it’s the BOA

Redmile predicted you.

There's no win here unless you collect the 3rd and it turns into a Pavel Datsyuk type of pick.

People keep saying Edmonton wins but Neal had 7 goals on a 1st place team in the division. At least Lucic has an excuse.

An excuse as to why he couldn't make or take a pass and struggled to hit the broadside of an barn door with his shot? I'm afraid excuses mean nothing here. Both are awful.

He has an excuse for 16G in two years? The year before he primarily played with RNH or McDavid and score 10 goals.

Neal might not be a 20 G guy year in and out, but 7 is an outlier. Lucic scored 6.

The oilers will be giving Calgary the third...lucic scores 9 , Neal scores 27...

Dont really like this deal for the Flames player for player but in terms of need, it's not that bad. I think Lucic is a better 3rd/4th liner than Neal, Neal basically has to play top 6 and PP to impact the game. Lucic can at least grind it out for a few years on the bottom 6 and maybe pot 15g/40 pts per year. He fits the identity of the team a bit more, we'll see how it all works out. I'd really like to see Lucic do well in Calgary.

This trade allows Neal to play with mcdavid and pot 30-40 goals and allows drai to run the second center spot with nuge on his wing...Neal must be the happiest guy after this trade...
- oil90

Dude

Stoked we unloaded looch for sure. And Neal has a great shot even if he’s slowed some.
Certainly a win by almost measure

But 30-40 goals?! If he gets 15 we’re absolutely amped.

Let’s just be happy we unloaded our anchor and just be happy with almost any production from Neal.

He has no excuse.....he was given a chance to play with the best player on the planet and SLOWED HIM DOWN!!......you know how bad you have to be to pull that off? Both Neal and Lucic aren’t worth the paper their contracts were written on
