I’m good with Jones getting 3rd pairing minutes which would allow him to slowly grow at the NHL level plus Jones has an idea of what to expect since he played in Edmonton for a stretch last season

I think Legs took some massive strides last year and plays a simple game that'll be more conducive to early success on a bottom pairing. I think the way Tippett deploys his Dmen has all three pairings taking a fair share of harder minutes so Willy fills the need better. It puts a damper on my idea of a Jones-Benning soft deployment pairing, but I'll take it if it works.

For clarity, I also have no issue with Jones cracking the line-up. He has all the skills to make the jump and find success. But I like the idea of Jones dominating in the AHL a bit longer to further bolster his game before making the roster.

I like Legs but it would appear we have a reverse idea on this as I would like more AHL time for Legs but tbh I’m good with either guy cracking the lineup if they earn it.....even after the Lucic trade I’m still more excited for the Condors this season and the blueline will be great regardless of which one of the two they lose to the Oilers

I don't know that I even have a preference. I just think Tippett will like Willy's style in that role than Jones'. Not a knock on Jones, of course. I appreciate his higher-octane style, but it'll depend on what Tippett prefers in this go-around: will he stick to his recent history and go low-variance or will he lean high-variance this time?

2) Edmonton retained $750k in Lucic's salary

3) Even if Lucic DIDNT have a NMC, who is going to want to take the guy if he continues to struggle? This deal only happened because the other guy was in the exact same boat. The NMC didnt seem to stop him from leaving Edmonton either....
