Its extremely possible that the cliff that both of their careers appear to have fallen off of is very real.

No way in Hell I'm giving Provorov a long term deal worth 6, 7 or more million per. He stunk last year, thats a fact . He's had one good year and one bad year so who knows who the real Provorov is right now. 1 or 2 year deal works for me
- twpguy

Interesting since Provorov has played 3 years in the NHL. Do you ever have the facts even remotely correct?

Offer provorov same contract as trouba ifit is in his asking price. But what I gather gandler is likely asking 10 until the other two sign
- MrPerfect316

No they shouldn't offer the same deal as Trouba. That might be what Gandler is asking for. Not 10. There are only two defenseman in the league with a cap hit of 10M or higher and they're both former Norris trophy winners.

Oh they're both shadows of their former selves for sure. I think both teams are just happy to trade their shot players after trying to move them for anything for this long.

If I was going to bet on one of them to improve, it would be Neal. I like the trade better from Edmonton's side.

I would have to agree with that. Calgary is the other team I root for after the Flyers. Not really thrilled about them taking on Lucic.

On the one hand, I'd be inclined to agree with you that Neal would seem the more likely candidate to put up solid numbers again... and yet, he put up 19 points playing on a team that had 5 guys finish with over 70 points, a team that was just burying pucks in the net.

Do you know who his most frequent linemates were? (I don't)

edit: i see that he also only played in 63 games.

My point is if they believe in Provorov as a number 1 dman, pay the few extra dollars to get it done now. He is every bit as good as Trouba. But in the same breath from what I am reading Gandler is not letting Provorov sign anything until the other two guys sign unless he gets top money ie:10 mill.

I have would have no problem giving Provorov in the 7.5 if they truly feel he is a number 1 guy longterm.

The point is that if you read Bill's blog, he spells out how the NHL salary market works. I don't know what you're reading but I'd like to see that info and where you're getting this 10M number from. As I explained to you previously. Only two NHL defenseman have a cap hit of 10M or higher. Doughty and Karlsson. I can absolutely guarantee that if the Flyers right now, offered Provorov Trouba's deal, he would sign it. This 10M number you're throwing around is fantasy.

Well, I had heard people throwing out big numbers for Provy that sounded absolutely ridiculous too. If anything I thought the Trouba deal would curb those crazy talk numbers. For all the reasons Bill said...Trouba was paid as a UFA basically. So while the market isn’t set, you definitely know the upper limit and that shouldn’t be reached for any of the young RFA defensemen. Good news, I think.
