Step in the wrong direction not signing Wilson for cheap. Hope he gets a real chance to play in Toronto. - Grinder47
Yeah, the Pens will never win the cup now. |

I'd rather have Johnson called up over Wilson. - Rinosaur
We've done worse than Wilson, but there are other guys like Johnson, Lafferty, Miletic I'd rather see right now. |

Wilson played a decent role, but he is far from an irreplaceable loss. Several of the names, especially Johnson and his speed, can fill that role. |

I'd add Dipauli (if he can stay healthy) to that list. Guy can really skate. |

I do tend to forget about Dipauli because he hasn't stayed healthy enough to do much, but this is a big year for him. I should have mentioned Palve and Haggerty as well. Blandisi is probably still in the mix.
Big year for all those guys, and Angello who started strong but faded to make a move. Great class coming in with Bellerive, Bjorkvist, Almeida, and Drozg coming in. No need for Wilson to be taking up a spot. |

Garrett Wilson was useless. Guy played in 50 games last year and had 2 goals. He isnt going to be missed. I'd rather those NHL minutes go to a younger guy whose ceiling is unknown compared to a guy like Wilson whose ceiling is known.
One thing I havent heard much about is Jarry. The kid is still 24, had some decent looks at the NHL, but clearly wont get any use here with Murray being around his age. I thought the Baby Penguins signed a goalie this offseason making it look like Jarry was going to be traded. No idea if he is used as a trade chip to entice someone to take Johnson or what, but i would've thought we would have moved him by now.
I still am in favor of dumping Johnson+ another asset to get him off our books and trading Bjugstad in a seperate deal and sign Jake Gardiner. No idea what is holding up his signing whether its term, salary, or team that has caused him not to sign yet. |

Also... so much for that "I guarantee Wilson will be on the roster come October." |

Yeah because those guys can all bring it like Wilson did carrying the corpse of Matt Cullen in a back pack with a pip squeak that doesn’t belong in the nhl on the other wing. Never understand most of your logic around here. |

Wilson was probably the best pens forward for those sad 4 games this past spring. |

Jarry has very little value now. I don't see many teams clearing their back up spot for him as unproven as he is, he's just not that highly regarded. If he was, we'd keep him over DeSmith.
Marleau cost a first for 1 year, 6M to be bought out. Why do people think teams will take JJ with 4 years and over 12M left on his deal for a fringe prospect or a middle six forward? |

👍🏻 Dude I’ve been saying that same thing for months. If it costs a first+ to unload a guy like JJ then there’s no way teams would take ZAR/Rust + Jarry or a mid pick, it’s just not happening unless some GM wants to get fired |

Ben Bishop was originally traded from the blues to the sens for a 2nd round pick. That was based on very limited NHL playing time and a good AHL run. This is definitely his make or break year |

It’s sad he’s not going to be. Now it will probably be a pip squeak Bryan Rust type player without the tangible offense of Rust. But he scored goals in junior doesn’t hit fight or really care about anything except himself.....so you guys will all love him. |

I wouldn’t call it a good AHL run, id call it a great AHL run. He had a .928 when he was dealt. He’s also 6’6 which is enticing to some. We were all clamoring about his value after Jarry had a .925 in the AHL but that was 2 years ago and he hasn’t been spectacular since. Plenty of competition for him in the NHL, AHL, and Europe if he’s going to post a AHL .915 |

#1. I am hearing the Pittsburgh Penguins are one of three teams who are believed to have serious interest in Jake Gardiner, to the point one source (with another team who is interested) texted me today..."Everyone is hearing the Pens are making a huge pitch which at this point will be very hard to pass on for Gardiner...
I guess this completely kills any chances of actually getting Gardiner. It's interesting to think about though...
Dumo/Letang
Gardiner/Schultz
Pettersson/Gudbranson
Obviously that wouldn't be how it goes down as I'm guessing Schultz would be moved, but I'd be concerned with who would be the 2nd pair RD. |

I said it before in here pens had a solid offer to gardiner before free agency opened. Heard it was 6 years @ 5 per and gardiner probably thought he would get way more on the open market. JJ was very close to being moved to ducks, kings or yotes. Trying to get more from my buddy as to where it stands 3 weeks later. |

The difference was that Bishop was considered a top goalie prospect at the time. I haven't seen any list in a while putting Jarry in that range, his value has declined the past couple years. Bishop was also able to still be stashed in the minors.
Jarry may still succeed, happens late with goalies all the time, but I wouldn't compare him to Bishop. |

If there were to be any truth to this I wonder if signing Gardiner impacts Pettersson or Schultz. Logically you'd think Schultz would be the one to go because he's a pending UFA looking for a raise, but a Gardiner/Schultz pairing >>>>>> Pettersson anywhere in the lineup even if it's for one year. |

My buddy said if gardiner took that offer he thinks JJ was definitely gone but doesn’t know anything about what it was for. I doubt Tanev would have got signed if it happened and they would have went with letang, dumo, gardiner, Shultz, petersson, gudbranson |

I'd love to get Gardiner. I definitely like him more than Schultz and seems like his contract may end up reasonable. Concern is the back obviously.
Getting Gardiner at a good price and flipping Schultz for an asset is a net gain to me, but it would be putting a lot of faith in Gudbranson's play after the trade being somewhat sustainable. |
