I know I am on the short list of guy who really think Bouv is going to be a stud. That said I would love to see a longer deal for a little more as I think it will work out in the long run (Like Okposo, Mayfield, Hamonic, and other did when we did that) |

Why in God’s name would you want to pay a player a “little more” especially a player that has shown nothing but inconsistency? If anything if he had a longer term deal you would pay him a little less. As you know I’m bearish on Beau and I hope I’m wrong but I don’t understand paying him more with longer term? Doesn’t make any sense. |

I'm on the Ben-train on this one. I think he signs something in the neighborhood of 2 years, $4M-ish total. My guess is he'll want one year, the team will want three, and they'll settle on a two year bridge. |

Two years seems fair. Isles could really use Beau's speed and skill. Hopefully Beau really puts it together this year. |

That’s fine I just don’t understand why he would want to pay Beau more and longer term?😂 |

Yeah I was going near that one, just saying I think he'll sign for something in the neighborhood of what Ben was thinking
I think he meant he'd rather overpay a little now so, if Beau figures it all out, down the line the contract will be great value. That was the Garth Snow method of things, lock up young guys close to hitting their stride. Sometimes it worked out great, sometimes it didn't. |

Barry and his system really make the Pelech and Mayfield deals look good. |

If you are giving him a smaller contract for shorter term it's a "show me" contract that if he plays well costs more in a couple of years. IF you give him a "little more" a year you are now in years he could command more so would not sign a long term deal (See Mitch Marner currently for a more absurd example). When the Isles signed Okposo a 3 year deal for 3.5 mill a year it was a little longer than they 1 or 2 year deal for 2.5 mill but got an extra year at a good price. Scott Mayfield signing a 5 year deal at 1.5 mill a year was way too much according to most on here last year. Right now it looks like it will be a steal in the coming years. Hamonic getting 3.8 mill for 6 years was an aggressive number but the reason he got us those picks was it looked pretty cheap in the following years.
How is this a concept that is hard to understand? You can give Bo a contract for 2 years for 2.5 millish... or give him a 4 or 5 year deal for 3.5 mill and by the time the second year is done it will look like a great contract b/c he is going to be 24 or 25 years old and just getting into his prime. |

When a kid is 22, scores 20 goals a year, can fly and constantly shows effort every shift my guess is he will be a very good sign. |

I'm not totally disagreeing, but he's also been incredibly inconsistent and goes dry for long stretches. I don't think he's getting a longer term deal. If he signs for more than three years I'd be very surprised. |

I hear u on the inconsistent but I still think he is only 22, still scores 20 ish already and like I said the effort is clearly there every shift. |

Whole lot of effort without getting anything done most of the time. I know lots of people that work real hard and suck at their jobs. They tend not to last.
Maybe he’ll figure it out? I hope he does just as much as you but skating around and bouncing off players and the wall doesn’t make me think any higher of him. His famous move is flying into the opposing team’s zone and coughing up the puck on the boards which immediately goes the other way. He repeats that same sequence continuously every, single game. |

Usually how it works is if you give more term the yearly value comes down. Giving more money and term literally makes no sense. |

Beau needs to get to the front of the net on a consistent basis and he needs to play smarter. Beau should be built for today's NHL and has a great coach to help him be the best player he can be. |
