Ehlers is a good player but we need a center, not another left winger.

Forcing players like Johnsson Ehlers and Reinhart our of position is a bad idea to bank on.

Aren’t you busy trading Eichel, Dahlin and Skinner for guys you can draw penalties well so they can score 1.2 more goals per year.

I wouldn't be against Laine. I'm just leery of the:
A) Cost it would take to get him out of WPG
B) Cost it would take to get him to sign a long term deal in BUF (Because if you're going to give up those kinda assets, he better sign long term)

with some of his deficiencies, I feel these are fair things to consider.

We've done the give WPG all our assets before. It didn't work out so well last time.

And if it's Ehlers for Risto, I would do that. Laine costs you sig more then Risto. If it's Laine or Ehlers for Risto, Give me the Finnish Snipper.

One guys scores at nearly a ppg in the playoffs.

The other has 0 career playoff goals.

One scores 30+ a year. The other does not.

One is a 9mil player the other is not.

He wanted us to trade for Trouba when everyone and their mother pointed out actual quotes of him saying he wanted to sign where it helped his wife

The question is whether it's fair to expect them to be good this year. I say yes. I think it should be mandatory in year 3. Feel free to disagree

Laine had more gp, goals and points and playoff points than Eichel did his first three years in the league.

Eichel got 10 mil based on potential. Laine should ask for 9.

I don't want to find out. I want them to succeed and be a playoff team, and I expect Botterill to provide that product this fall.

I think there's another move coming to make that happen.

Scandella was a good player for Minnesota.

Sheary is a 3rd line player, who had 23 and 18 goals before the trade. He's no scrub

Hunwick was the price of doing business to acquire said 23 and 18 goal scorer for basically nothing.

Sobotka was certainly good enough to warrant a roster spot on teams that made the playoffs 5 of the previous 7 years, in STL and Boston. (Now, that doesn't mean Botts didn't eff up in the ROR trade, but that's not what you're talking about here).

Elie is what he is, and every organization has them and needs them (in the AHL).

For all this talk about Risto, Trouba, RNH, Ehlers, Laine, etc., no one's mentioned goaltending. Are we really serious about a playoff push with Ullmark and Hutton? These guys are stop gaps, unless something very unexpected happens. Like so many other decisions, he's just patiently waiting and evaluating.

building for the long term is the objective if u bring in a guy like Ehlers

I feel like Johansson will be just fine on the right,
especially if he’s playing with Jack & Skinner
And if he’s not... then we try someone else
I don’t think it’s a huge deal
