It does. I'm not saying it doesn't. We'll see. If everything's the same (Meaning what it'd take to land Laine vs Ehlers) give me Laine even knowing we're going to pay 3ish more per year. I would like to know the difference in cost from the Jets perspective though. Is it:
Ehlers for Risto + small add
Laine for Risto, Sam, and a first? I feel like it's rather add Ehlers at that point.
But we'll see. - SDSabre
Last year, Laine brought 1.5 goals above average.
Risto and Reinhart brought 12.5. That 1st rounder averages around 6.
So I'm sure that trade would really benefit not the Sabres.
Housley did him 0 favors. Reinhart should’ve been with him from day 1.
But he got boned.
He’s gonna improve - sbroads24
I don’t think developing talent or recognizing the problems were the Housley style. He was so fixated on driving his damn system that it drove us into the ground

Not sure if I should bring Ehlers back to the table, but I'm starting to see why Ehlers is rumored on the block. He's valuable and can drive play on even strength, but for some reason he brings zero value to special teams. He had a huge regression this year for his talent level.
Laine, the contrary. If he wasn't on the powerplay, he damaged his team.

There’s no denying his talent. I watched him play in my hometown a few times(Halifax) and he was amazing. He seems to excel when playing with a premier center. He might be a better fit with riches but Skinner fills that spot currently. Not sure how he would pan out on the second or 3rd line but that’s just my opinion

He played half his season with Schiefele...and played entirely on the 2nd powerplay with Matt Perreault. So that kind of explains that.

I'd trade Sobotka, and a 6th for a 7th and sign Brassard on a 1 year deal - homiedclown
He did well playing top 6 in Ottawa, and horrid outside of Ottawa playing bot 6. If a trade isn't to be had, I'd do the proposed move, if it's that simple to unload a truck of sh1t onto some Biff.

He was such an uninterested, disengaged, whiny, tire fire in Pittsburgh though. I like it better than any of our current 2c options. I just hope botts can do a little better at 2c....
