I was told yesterday not to be that guy...but you are already, so all's good! - IonSabres
I see many missed the sarcasm here.
This was a joke people. Since every player has said arbitration hearing are awful and the team just shreds the player about how bad they are and why they shouldn’t be paid.
But continue on everyone |

And to piggyback, these players KNOW going in they're going to be shredded.
And to the people bashing Botts for "dragging Erod through this to save a couple hundred grand", Erod is the one who filed. |

Feel bad that it was a little girl that took the charge, but reports are she wasn't seriously injured. Should've been her idiot parents who thought taking her close enough to pet the wild bison was a good idea. |

I wonder if the players ever fire back:
"E-Rod, you only got 29 points last year, that isn't anywhere close to 2.65"
"Botts, you signed Larsson AND Girgs to 1.55 and 1.6 for a total of 3.15 for 32 points. You're either out to lunch with those contracts, or I'm giving you a break" |

So you know that the Sabres didn't offer him a deal? - Powerslave
No, but their arb offer looks low at the moment if we assume he gets something similar to copp. We'll see today or tomorrow though |

Would you rather be the Nashville predators and give him a 7 year deal ? What better way to restrict your roster flexibility and inhibit the grow of your ELC players because two guys, who will most likely be replacement level players in a few years, are taking up roster spots in the bottom 6. - Swedish_Jesus
I think those deals are brilliant, but no, not 7 years |

It's just his qualifying offer. He gave the team no time to negotiate.
If Erod had negotiated instead, he might have gotten the $2 million. And maybe he still will. He's the one who filed. |

We definitely have no idea who's playing hardball, but in all likelihood we're talking about a couple hundred grand. The whole exercise seems silly. Just trade Scandella for a 5th so Botterill can pay erod, Elie, McCabe and Ullmark without creating bad blood. |

I have to seriously wonder if Erod is holding other moves up.
Sounds odd to say, but it just may be.
Know just how much cap space is left.
Curious that we have heard no news on McCabe and Ullmark also. |

What an incredibly brilliant move by Botterill to squeeze erod for a couple hundred thousand. Gotta pay for Wilson and Elie somehow! - jcragcrumple
9 goals doesn't deserve a 300% plus raise |

The Sabres are tight against the cap, partly because players such as Scott Wilson are under contract, and maybe the arbitrator will be drunk and give Elie more than league minimum which Botterill will have to pay for.
Erod asked for $2.65, vs. Team ask of $1.5. I'm assuming that if Copp got 2 years, $2.28 per, then Erod is going to get at least $2.15, which is probably worse than if Botterill had just compromised.
Maybe he'll save $100k or $200k, or maybe it costs him that. Either way, what a silly waste of time while antagonizing the player - jcragcrumple
If he was a team "player" he would have signed the contract.
zemgus - team player
Johan - team player
Erod had 9 goals last season. Why would we pay him 2.65.
Sabres walk- if its over 2 million arbitration awarded |

I mean, in terms of production, he doubled Larsson's and nearly doubled Zemgus'. And not asking for double either salary. |

The Buffalo News reported $5.1 million is left. Idk if that's accurate.
Just trade one or two of our 3 dozen defensemen and the picture clears up. |

They can't walk from anything less than $4 million I think.
In reference to the conversation about Tim Kennedy yesterday, they didn't walk from that arbitration ruling. They bought him out. |

Hear me out here.
Sabres are waiting to see how much Erod signs for because they are signing Gardiner and taking a contract back for Risto+McCabe.
Want to make sure it all works first.
Then you can move Scandella, and one other.
And now back to your non fantasy programs. |
