Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - Terry Pegula has written a letter to all season ticket holders that they are not raising season ticket prices for next season.

I was able to obtain the letter from a season ticket holder who asked not to be named and this is what it says,



I’m not happy and I am sure you aren’t either.

I’m sending this letter so that I can personally tell you that we will not be raising Season Ticket prices this year. You’ve been loyal to us in one of the most difficult times in franchise history and you deserve better.

When we decided to go through our rebuild, the expectation was that we would be competing for a playoff spot by now. That simply hasn’t happened. I bear my share of responsibility. Mistakes have been made along the way, but I’m not here to rehash those or make excuses. I’m here to tell you I watch the games too and the standard of the Buffalo Sabres must change.

I’ve challenged everyone in the organization to be better. Every single person, including me, needs to improve on everything we do.

As disappointed as I am in the season, the part of me that’s a fan like you is still excited for the future. We have players in our system at all levels of the organization – NHL, AHL, juniors, European leagues and the NCAA – and I’m confident they will make us consistently competitive.

This may not mean much. Until we win, it is just words. I just want you to know that I’m in it with you.

Dear Season Seat Holder,

Almost two weeks ago, I accepted an opportunity to become president and general manager of your Toronto Maple Leafs. I want to thank the Board of Directors and owners of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Richard Peddie, President and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, for entrusting me with one of the most important jobs in hockey.

Managing the Toronto Maple Leafs is a dream job for me. It's a true honour to be associated with an iconic team with passionate fans, and a strong sense of history and tradition.

I spent the last three seasons with the Anaheim Ducks where as President and General Manager I was fortunate to be part of a Stanley Cup Championship. We intend to create the same winning culture for Leafs fans.

The Leafs are now turning a page in their storied history, and we have a lot of work ahead of us. Rebuilding this team will require commitment and dedication, and Cliff Fletcher has taken many positive steps in the right direction. Over the next few months, our management team will evaluate our players and begin to address the opportunities that will support our team's progress on the ice.

We have a number of areas that are working in our favour, including a stable ownership that is committed to winning and an established coach in Ron Wilson. Ron and I share the same philosophies on how the game should be played. Under the tutelage of Ron and his coaching staff, we have already started to see a shift in how our team plays every night.

We have started to create a strong nucleus of young talent like Luke Schenn and Mikhail Grabovski, who will continue to grow, develop and excel under the Leafs system. The biggest advantage of our team is an arena filled with loyal fans every night who want to see their team succeed.

As I said in my introductory news conference, I have three pillars that I base my teams on:

1.) Having a team that has an exciting and entertaining style of play. The Leafs will justify the price of the ticket every night they are on the ice. We are committed to providing value to all of our Season Seat Holders, as you are an important part of our team.

2.) I believe teams need to operate in a fiscally responsible manner. We will spend our fans’ and our sponsors’ money intelligently, and make decisions that are right for the team.

3.) I expect all of our players and coaches to be leaders in the community. Community service is not optional. I am thrilled to see the Leafs organization already has a strong culture of giving back to the community through initiatives and programs led by the Leafs Fund for Kids, Leafs Hockey Development and Leafs Community Relations. The Leafs lead the NHL for community initiatives, team appearances and fundraising. This will continue to be a priority for our team.

These three pillars have created a winning culture for my teams in the past, and I anticipate they will continue to have the same positive impact on the Leafs going forward.

Last weekend, the Leafs announced the hiring of hockey executive David Nonis as Senior Vice-President of hockey operations. I have had the fortune of working with Dave for more than 14 years in Anaheim, Vancouver and at the NHL. He will be a great addition to our hockey organization as he brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge.

I would like to thank Leafs Season Seat Holders for welcoming me to Toronto. This is a great time to be affiliated with the Toronto Maple Leafs. I hope you’ll share in my excitement as we get started with the work ahead.

5-7 points out of a playoff spot by Thanksgiving, top-10 finish for sure. I think he should be canned if they're not in the playoffs, to be honest. But certainly if they're more than 3 wins out.

Tampa, Toronto, Boston, Wash, NYI, Carolina, Philly, NJD, Florida, and Rangers all are either better, significantly improved, or both. We shall see.

Honestly, I think you are 1 season premature when you are throwing to gauntlet down.

Yes indeed. Botts' has had a good off season and I think we all know that more moves are coming. He is setting the team up nicely for this year and beyond. As of right now, we have 10 UFA's with the vast majority being
If we get somewhere between 86 - 92 points this year, we will be in excellent shape moving forward.

Regarding the "negative Nancy's" on this board. Some things never change.

It should be based on what this team is compared to others in similar situations

No Risto trade is going to put this team above Tampa or Toronto this upcoming season. Boston is possible to catch but still unlikely.

So saying the GM should be fired if he doesn’t manage to beat out almost every other team in the conference seems silly.

A better way to look at it is if Dahlin and Eichel stay healthy, play to their ability, and the supporting cast falls apart, then that’s a justification I can live with.

Because dahlin sucks .... Eichel sucks .....and black olives are overrated.

I think we can panic if Risto is still here in September and botts didn’t trade for a top 6 forward. Still a lot of summer to go

I won't panic, tbh.

I'm excited to see what Ralph can do, Mitts will be a year older and 65 pounds overweight and be that true power forward, MoJo brings some really good things to this team, what Botts has brought to this D (Joker, Miller, a full year of Montour) has me drooling.

No, it's not ideal if we don't get another top 6 F, but he's added depth.

That being said, DO SOMETHING, PUTZ!

Because there's a world of difference.

If you are going to be poop-canning GMs every three years, you are never going to get any kind of consistency.

I'm rooting for him to put together a playoff team in year 3. If he can't accomplish that, it's time to go in another direction
