How is Ehlers “horrible” sir?

He’s a fast winger that scores goals

Rookie year- 15goals in 72games
Year 2- 25goals in 82games
Year 3- 29goals in 82games
Year 4- 21goals in 62games (28goal pace)

Is there something about him in particular that u just don’t like?

Bc he seems like a great fit to me

- jdfitz77

hooked on video games

benched in playoff game

dropped down a line or 2 for blah play many times

the need is a center IMO, not another winger, if they move risto

still pretty sure they keep him

I'm not if anyone other than flaccoville is hoping for a tank season

I think some of us realize this team was a complete mess from tmgm's tenture.

How many 1st round guys to he trade away?

Winnipeg: armia, Myers, stafford, 1st rounder 2015 and lemieux (2nd) round but, 1st pick

Colorado- zadarov , girgerenko, 31st pick and it comptner

Those moves alone , take years to rebuild

We depleted our prospects, guys who would be good now.

- Boss34

That really does tell you all you need to know about where the organization thinks the team is at. GMTM traded futures (in bulk) for NHL players, and destroyed the system. Last year, JB was still acquiring futures. This year, he's taken a very balanced approach. Most of his prospects haven't even hit the AHL yet.

It really shouldn't be a controversial statement to say a GM needs to make the playoffs in 3 years
- jcragcrumple

Players that a gm drafted, sometimes take more then 3 years to play in the nhl.

Bad take crags

4 year minimum, unless you pick Sam or drylstal and nylander 8th overall. Then you deserve to get fired

He isn't horrible, and he isn't a great fit either.
A great fit when trading away your most valuable moveable asset for this club would be 2C or 1RW.
Another LW , making him the 6th of that position is horrible asset managemt.

The merry go round is gonna stop, he's going to let continuity come together between Kruger and Botterill. Have to start bringing this team together and they really believe that Kruger can do that along with what Botterill can do.
- SABRES 89

Well I'm hopeful that he's not done, or Krueger works some magic. That way there's no cause to fire him

I think his lack of playoff scoring may bother 89?

It bothers me. Making the playoffs shouldn't be our end game.

Ehlers is 0 for 20+ goals/games

If you bring in Ehlers, he likely slots as you 2LW which then
- pushes Johansson down to 3LW and Vesey to 4LW
- makes Oloffson and Sheary expendable
- does absolutely nothing to improve the 2C nor the abysmal RW position, the 2 biggest needs on the forward line.

Olofsson could get sent down again I suppose, or Johansson or Vesey moved...but why bring them in then..so not likely.

- IonSabres

In my scenario...
Ehlers & Gusev are good players brought in to help now, AND in the future

Move MoJo & Vesey to RW
If they can’t do it... try Ehlers &/or Gusev on the side
I’m more concerned with guys that will be here long term slotting in correctly though

And I’m not worried about Center at all
Eichel
Mitts
Cozens
Asplund
That’s a hell of a group moving forward
I’m more than ok without doing something just for this season
*although i did mention Eakins, who could play Center in the top9 for us
And that would even allow Cozens to come in as a RW if we kept Eakins around for a few years

Ehlers can’t even hit 30 goals plays LW. That is the guy we need.

Laine - consistently 30 + goals since entering the league. Plays RW. Nah bad fit for Sabres.

Not sure I understand this place.

I know you're being facetious, but I hate when they say, oh he can play the right as well.
Ya sure, he hasn't played there with 2 organizations over a 5 year period, but sure!
Hutton can play 1RhD too in that world.

All that & he’s still scoring goals in the upper 20s
Kid just needs to mature
He’s a hell of a talent

And we do not need a center

Mitts is our 2C
Cozens on the way
Asplund almost ready
Routsalainen is a wild card
Davidsson continues to develop, along with Pekar

We are VERY DEEP at the center position

You really need to step away from the ledge.

Jbotts is doing this the correct way. Building thru Rochester, not rushing guys.

You think he's worried about being fired? Doubtful

Pegula wanted someone responsible

Finally, botts has a long term vision , and you are complaining about him not making the playoffs already next april?

Exactly.

Let's move Lw's to the Right, let's move RhD's to the left

The question is whether it's fair to expect them to be good this year. I say yes. I think it should be mandatory in year 3. Feel free to disagree

I don't think we need to add a center

I think casey or cozens will get moved to the wing

I also think we can roll with dahlin, risto, montour, miller, mccabe and joker as our 6 d men

pilet can be one of the reserves

we are still in a position where it's addition by subtraction

He’d be our 2nd best LW,
and signed to a good deal

MoJo isn’t here long term
I wanna build a team for the long run

Trade Mitts, he's another overrated player by most everyone on this site, he's no 2nd line center.

You are counting on all those guys to hit.
Cozens may actually be best suited for RW, a position he actually has played according to the prospect reports.
Those other guys are projected as 3 or 4 C's.
The current need is 2C, a 1or2 RW, and actually a 3RW.

I think it’s an aberration,
but it’s a fair concern to have

Didn’t Crosby even have something like a 15 game goal scoring drought in the playoffs though?

It can happen to anyone

But yeah, it is concerning
I just don’t think that’s worthy of calling him “horrible”
