I know next to nothing about Tebow (curently), isn't he on a minor league baseball team? Why would he not be with the team? Call up?

Also, if he bought tickets last minute, maybe there was no first class available?

- Lilroot9

Funny thing is, I live in Binghamton (Endicott really), the minor league team he was with was Binghamton.

Edit: Makes sense he’s playing AAA ball in Syracuse for the Mets.

From Greg Whyshinski

“The Evan Rodrigues arb hearing was scheduled for today with the @BuffaloSabres. Just a reminder for NHL teams that THIS IS THE KIND OF PLAYER YOU SHOULD OFFER SHEET INSTEAD OF THROWING AWAY CASH AT 30-PLUS GUYS FOR YOUR BOTTOM SIX. Thanks”

Fascinating. Because what this tells me is that Erod is better at his job than Sissons is at his.

Doesn't that also show that Scissons is playing harder competition than ERod? Or am I reading it wrong?

Nope, that's right. So one could easily argue that (theoretically) if Sissons was playing the same competition as Erod, he'd be better. But we don't know that, because Nashville improperly utilized him, while Phyllis correctly used Erod, defensively.

Completely off the hockey topic, but I was flying out of Syracuse this morning and Tim Tebow was on my flight. Had his hat pulled really low and didn’t want to be bothered. I definitely made the face at him, “Is that who I think it is?” And I could see he caught it. Gave him a head nod and let the dude chill. Either people didn’t notice him or they respected him and left the dude alone on 630 flight. He kept his head down to get through LaGuardia.

Funny part, I was in first class he wasn’t.

Figured that would be the other way around.

He probably makes like $12k a year playing double A ball

It's ERod, you're not supposed to point that out.

Haha I wasn't making a point that hes bad, only asked if it was true that Scissons played tougher opponents is all. No judgment cast.

Anyone know the rules with these arbitrators, like if the player is awarded a larger salary, what options the team has?

I think the team can just not resign and release the player to UFA (most likely, never going to happen).

But can the team trade the player before or after signing the player to the awarded deal?

Just looking at Andrew Copp, wonder if he gets what he wants 1 year - $2.9m, would the Jets try to trade him?

Read his deal should be announced before 4:30 today.

The arbitrator must make a decision within 48 hours of the hearing. When the decision is announced, the team has the right to decline or walk away from the award. If the team exercises this right, the player can declare himself an unrestricted free agent.

I thought that in order for the team to walk-away the salary awarded need to be over like $4.xm.
If the award was for less, then the team could only buyout the player if they wanted out...not exactly sure of the formula though.

Anyone remember the multi-year crusade Bucky Gleason went on about this even though he didn't play very many NHL games after that?

It was proven recently by somebody else that the team only gets to walk away if the award is over some threshold amount. I forget what it was. But under that amount the player wins and the team has to pay the man the money

According to Capfriendly the Sabres signed him 7/29/10 to $1m contract and then they bought him out 8/2/10.
