Out to pasture. I've read here that he sux. - mohel
Where ever he is going to be most effective. They need 50 pts and dominant 2 way play from him this year. And top PK minutes. |

F - Andrew Copp has been awarded a two-year contract with an AAV of $2.28 million by an independent arbitrator. - walleyeb1
I’m a fan of Copp, that seems like a fair settlement. |

Leafs just got David Clarkson & a pick from Vegas for Sparks. A big cap hit. Um, wtf is going on up there? Marner just picking dingle berries out of his butthole. |

Isn't Clarkson on LTIR or something. Pretty sure his career is over from an injury so don't think Leads take cap hit |

What return are they hoping for? Never played a game in the NHL and it’s not like they can acquire salary. 2nd rounder and a middle prospect is about right for an unproven asset. - Assman22
If he is as good or better than Panarin you may as well go for the homerun. Gusev is one of the top players in the world. The offers to Vegas are ridiculous. Gusev and Kane will be off the charts. I still wish Panarin had never left!

Saad frustrates me. Wish he had more craft and headiness to his offensive game. Could score and assist way more. Hope he improves idk. Some of these guys work with skills coaches in the off season that dissect everything and help them alter their game to be more effective. Not sure what Saad is up to this summer |

Alright let’s set something straight right now:
Any projected lineup with Kampf at 3C is NOT an acceptable lineup. Kampf is not a legit 3C. We need to be stronger down the middle and have 3 potent scoring lines. Dach needs to get a serious look at 2/3C and if it doesn’t work out Shaw will have to be that guy like he was in 2013. - SimpleJack
Agree 100%. |

Agreed. Kampf should be the 2C with Toews the 3C. |

Agreed. Dach is going to get every chance to make the team and be the 3C. Saad-Dach-Shaw could be the best 3rd line they've had since 2015..... - EnzoD
Definitely. By March at the latest, and hopefully sooner, Dach -- and Boqvist -- will be playing important roles injecting youthful enthusiasm and excitement in the Hawks and their fans -- including us! (Gus will have been traded, hopefully for some value.) |

If Clarkson is retired (as I read on this website), shouldn't there be a recapture penalty? |

Should have traded Joker for him

Hasn't retired. Just can't play anymore. Same as Horton. In very very basic terms, the Leafs can go about 10.5 mil over the cap |

See I don't get this... some posters have Sikura penciled in as 3rd line or 2nd line guy. He didn't score last year. To me Kampf at 3C is as bad as saying Sikura will be 3LW or 3RW. I don't want either of them near my 3rd line. - bhawks2241
Not the same. You can plug a guy like Sikura in the top 6 on the wing if he’s playing alongside productive star players. He also has tools and skills suited for that role.
Kampf however has no business at 3C if you plan on building a solid 3rd scoring line, he doesn’t have the right skill set. |

I feel like he’s been on LTIR for years . I’m pretty sure he was on LTIR when I first joined this website back in 2013. Still there. |

Great explanation of how they are working around the cap. I really don’t like this but not sure there’s anything that can be done about it.

As @EarlSchwartz27 points out, it also allows them to sign Marner once the season has started. Before, it would have been very difficult to make the #'s work to get enough LTIR cushion to have him on roster if he signed after season started. |

Likely to change based on what happens in camp, etc., but seems a lot stronger than last year. - RaleighHawk
Except for the lack of a legit 3C, and the almost certain increase in number of minor penalties that will be taken.

Allan Walsh @walsha
NHL teams are twisting themselves into pretzels to figure out a way to spend $92 million on payroll with a $81.5 million Upper Limit. As I’ve been saying for years, the salary cap is a farce and the idea that the cap promotes parity is an illusion. |

My head hurts enough with the penalties. God I hope you are not serious. Penalties are a coaching issue it wasn't an accident the Hawks led the league in least penalties under Q. Penalties are on Colliton as much as the players.

We always complained about no 2C now it's no 3C I call that improvement. |

Stan said he wanted guys who can play centre or wing and he's certainly accumulated a bunch of them. Toews and Strome lock down the #1 and #2 slots, between Carpenter and Kampf they have 2 guys that can play centre on the 4th line. Kampf could be an option for 3C, albeit not ideal.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Dach get a shot at 3C, and there are still options if he doesn't work out. These guys make not be ideal but they are options - Shaw, Smith (yes Ogi, I know how you feel about him), Kampf (as previously mentioned), Quenneville and The Drake. All of whom have varying levels of expected success. If Shaw and Saad are the third line wingers they can afford to have a less than offensively gifted 3C. |

I wonder if Saad could play center, and just let Smith take the draws.

I wish he was as good as Mark Messier. Of course, I also wish I weighed what I did in college. |
