https://theathletic.com/1088672/2019/07/23/projecting-the-blackhawks-lineups-through-the-2022-23-season/?redirected=1
For those with an Athletic subscription, Powers' most recent article projects the Blackhawks lineup for the next 4 seasons. Although I won't cut and paste the full article with his commentary, I'll share at least the projected lineups.
2019-20
Kubalik - Toews - Kane
DeBrincat - Strome - Perlini
Saad - Kampf - Shaw
Caggiula - Carpenter - Smith
Wedin, Quenneville
Keith - Gustafsson
de Haan - Seabrook
Maatta - Murphy
Koekkoek
Crawford
Lehner - AEL_Fox
Interesting that Powers in early July had Kubalik as a 3rd liner and Sikura as a 1st liner and Perlini being the odd man out but whom could switch in for Sikura maybe.
Either way, with the current group, that 3rd line looks like it'll struggle to produce. Saad and Shaw both require playmakers to produce pretty well (they're both shot-first players with average passing) which is why they were at their best with Kane shifting a lot with them. Kampf is no use to them - he's all effort / no hands. |

Did he do one last year? I'd love to ser how wrong he was. - BetweenTheDots
The only one that he did last year was in late March - or at least it's the only one I could find. It looks like every other armchair GM setup in that it was wrong in almost every way it could be.
Saad-Toews-Sikura
Debrincat-Schmaltz-Kane
Duclair-Anisimov-Hinostroza
Jurco-Kampf-Hayden
Kero

Calgary re-signs Bennett to 2 year deal worth $2.55 million per season.
While he’s not a direct comparison to Perlini it shows he won’t be signing for $1 million. Bennett’s second contract of $1.95 million may be more accurate. - DarthKane

Yup, well said. That suggested 3rd line is garbage.
This is the best possible scenario for our forwards, and believe it’s realistic:
Saad-Toews-Shaw/Dach
XXX-Shaw/Dach-Kane
DeBrincat-Strome-XXX
Caggiula-Kampf/Carpenter-Smith
XXX = Kubalik, Nylander, Perlini, Sikura, Kurashev, etc, etc... |

Yeah, but Bennet shows up to play every night. Think Perlini will be moved before the season starts. Ottawa would be perfect for him. |

On the CPHL's team rosters Boqvist's pro team is listed as Rockford and Dach's is Chicago. There we have it, Dach has made the team. |

Ohh...Those D pairs...Keith already should be sliding down to 2nd pair, I hope he isn't still top pair in 4 years...that would not be good IMO. - breadbag
Yeah, I would agree that Keith at least slides down to 2nd pair with the 1st pair being Beaudin with either Boqvist or Mitchell (if development goes as planned). Keith would then partner with the one who doesn't pair up with Beaudin.
Assuming no trade acquisitions or free agents, 3rd pair could have any of Carlsson, Krys, Galvas, and/or Vlasic. Or none of the above but guessing at least one of them is there. |

Agree that Kampf would reduce the full effectiveness of a 3rd line that could have Saad and Shaw as wingers. They would be a great defensive line but Saad and Shaw can bring so much more to the team, particularly on offense, so they would be neutered to a significant degree.
The strong teams in the league can roll 3 lines that can score plus a 4th line that can shut down the opposition, eat minutes, and give maximum effort in all zones.
Kampf, Carpenter, or even Smith as a regular 3rd liner gravitates the team toward 2 checking lines that in total as the bottom 6 may not provide satisfactory secondary scoring that can make a difference on the balance of the season.
Of those 3, Smith is the only one I would be okay with playing some time on the 3rd line but only if needed. |

It's not challenging his hockey expertise, it's classic trolling. Enzo wasn't alone in saying Toews was done, and his 3 years before this one didn't inspire much confidence that he could regain his form. I defended Toews (my favorite current Hawk) for the first two years, but even I couldn't defend 2017-18 Toews. I don't recall Enzo bashing Toews last year, in fact, I remember him praising him on a regular basis. |

If we go into the season with a "worst-case-scenario" and don't get an upgrade for 3C (I'm assuming Dach does no more than get the 9 game tryout - I would be ecstatic to be wrong), what about a third like of Saad-Shaw-Sikura. I know Shaw is best served on wing, but at least Sikura has shown the ability to create chances for others. Still a defensively responsible line as well.

I love the lineup chats right now. It'll be a great segue into my article coming out in the morning.
Honestly though look at that lineup above and look at the Hawks now. A bast inprovement, especially on D. |

Although I don't see Shaw as a center (he can do it but is best as a regular winger), I don't mind that line you proposed. Not optimal but could be fairly productive. Sikura plays like a center but not sure if he can hold down that role long term
Before Anisimov was traded, I was envisioning him centering Saad and Sikura. Then Shaw playing with Toews and Kane and either Kubalik or Perlini playing with DeBrincat and Strome. |

Can he be an RFA again or does a team only get one shot doing that? - rpeters01
If the two sides can't reach a conclusion by December 1st, then Perlini will miss the 2019/20 season and will remain an RFA. The contract won't be able to be re-negotiated until July 1st, 2020 but he still won't be eligible for arbitration. |

If he were to sign a one year deal the team jams down his throat this year and has a great year, would he be an RFA again next year or a UFA, that's what I don't understand?
