People just need to chill on saying places suck. Every place has redeeming qualities that work for someone (Except Buffalo). The whole city rivalry idea is silly. - TheMussel
Everyone is different that’s the thing.
There are people that wouldn’t even step foot into any city ever. |

We did Cleveland and Columbus just after Christmas last year (Leafs beat the Blue Jackets - booo-yeah!).
After hearing Cleveland jokes for so long, my expectations were very, very low. It was actually not a bad little place - but absolutely empty.
Columbus around the arena was fun - they have a nice little restaurant district vibe going on. But I can't really imagine spending more than a night there. - Atomic Wedgie
I went to the R&R HOF a year & a bit ago. Found the same thing. Nice clean city but didn't see anybody out on the streets or cars to speak of. |

I lived 500m from Landsdowne. I used to frequent Irene’s Pub on Bank.
Anyone saying Ottawa sucks (unless they’re talking about the Sens) probably haven’t been there. There’s not much to complain about with that city.. And if you’ve never done a Canada day in the Capital, you’re missing out. - Arctic_AARDVARK
About 100 years ago, Mrs. Wedgie (then just Wedgie's girlfriend) did a Canada Day weekend in Ottawa while the World Cup was on (IIRC, 1990).
It was 3 days of wandering around, having fun doing stuff, then ducking into a bar to watch a game (or the 2nd half of a game). Then back out, do some more poop, then back in to watch another game.
Top 10 best weekends of all time.
Unfortunately, everyone I know who has gone to Canada Day in Ottawa the past few years has said it's become too much of a zoo - just too many people. |

That’s awesome. And that’s sorta my experience there too, people are festive in the summer.
I haven’t been for Canada day in almost 10 years, but the downtown is shut down and it’s packed full, people blowing those vuvuzela horns alll day, lol..
I’m more of a winter person, the quiet times.. |

I'm guessing he believes that Canadian beer has higher alcohol content than US beer, so he's getting drunk cheaper.
I don't have the heart to tell him it's the same. - Atomic Wedgie
Not if you're drinking Sam Adams, plus that is some good beer. |

A friend of mine moved there. He’s moving back next month
He said it’s boring as (frank) and everyone are boring government people who are stuck up.
I’ve never been to Ottawa. His words
I should mention he did like it at first. It got stale 6 months into it though. - Santo_44

You don’t get a full sense of the community unless you’ve lived there for awhile..

It's unfortunate, they don't have it everywhere in the States, can't find it in Atlantic City aplace near Massachetts but Ocean city it's every where.
Pennsylvania and South Carolina too. |

Surprising, since it's a mainstay in Canadian stores. I don't drink anymore but that was one of my favourites. |

Lived where what part?
So many different communities in that city.
Been there at least 20 times, usually stay for 4 nights in the Byward Market.
Lots to do, only during hockey season so it's kind of cold. |

I'm really looking forward to just going (frank) yeah when the Leafs score instead of cap talk. It's a treat to watch AM and the boys. |

In my opinion the best place to live would be north of the Byward market, near the border of Quebec, lots to do over there also.
And then it would all be walking distance or a cheap cab fair. |

All the crackheads are in the Market, lol..
The Canal starts up near the Glebe, used to go to 67’s games for $12.. it’s far enough from the Market that it’s its own little community.. |

Typical Torontonian entitlement..
Ottawa (and CGY) actually offer more than TO. Just better all around cities. - Arctic_AARDVARK
