You're giving the exact same arguments as when the cap was first introduced.

Players can demand more money all they want - if no GM is offering them a contract, they simply won't play.

At a certain point, agents would have to start phoning around and offering their guys' services at a certain price. And if they get no offers, that price would have to go down.

Yes, there would be huge mistake contracts handed out. But that would be part of the fun.

fair enough......I see your point.

my point was based off the original post, which seemed to suggest that the only thing eliminated was the draft and ELCs, and everything else stay the same.

there would be HUGE fundamental changes to the game.....and if they happened (which would definitely need PA approval/support) then it could work.......I just doubt that PA would get behind it. if all of a sudden veterans were being offered less money, there would be work stoppages, or you'd see guys bolt for the KHL....

I agree it would be fun though.....would make for CRAZY offseasons

I dislike fake cheese greatly.

I don't overly expect much from pub food (not actual meals, I mean snack food) but I would 100% be insulted if I was served that.

A friend used to own a bar in downtown Toronto.

As per Ontario's liquor laws, you have to offer food.

So he had a bunch of Loblaws No Name microwave individual dinners - mac and cheese, mac and beef, etc. And they would cost $30 if you ordered them. Nobody ever did, of course, but it allowed him to keep passing inspections.

Reminds me of Hot Fuzz.

"What's your wine selection?"

wow, reasonable prices in NYC......didn't think it was possible.

I went to a TGIFs (or something like that) just off time square with some buddies about 6 years ago. we ordered a combo platter (wings, poppers, etc) and 4 beers.....(frank)ing cost like 80$ US

- sensarmy_11

Geez, that's like downtown Toronto pricing.

Well, there's your first mistake...

Although I do miss the old ESPN Zone bar (even though it was wickedly overpriced).

But I do recommend McSorley's - New York's oldest Irish Bar. Put it on your list of to dos next time you are in NYC.

- Atomic Wedgie

definitely will

the last couple of times I've been to NYC was for Fleet Week, so don't pay for almost anything........but next time I go i'll definitely be on my own dime. good to know some reasonable places to go

I did state upfront that it was an "OK, I've had 3 beers" argument.

I imagine there was a few drunk people who regretted ordering the food every now and then.

i really like the idea.

the only thing i would add is '2' salary caps.

1 for elc/new players in the league. something like each team can only allocate 10% of the cap to new players. would help ensure young talent is spread around the league.

the rest of it is a free for all with only a hard cap in place.

that's interesting......it allows the high-end rookies to make a bit more, while not allowing only a few teams to get them all.

I watched it a month back. Me and a few buddy's have a movie night thing, like once a week, where we rotate whose turn it is to pick a movie. It was my pick.

I think my next pick is either gonna be Grandmas Boy if I want a comedy or Rocknrolla if I feel like a more serious movie.

And risk being voted as the worst movie pick at the end of the year? I don't think so.

The ladies decided they were gonna make this into an awards thing.

I found Youngblood on some obscure channel last night.

It's the best worst movie of all time.

mitch the female dog marner why is it taking so long for this greedy ass to sign a contract? if he thinks he's worth as much or more than matthews just trade him already. hockey will go on with or without this little pleb.

Notice I did not mention Muzzin? I don't want him back and feel Dubas won't even try. Give Barrie his 8 million. Lilljegren and Sandin can play on entry levels. Dermott will get more, but will still be relatively cheap.

And BTW, Gauthier won't even be on the team. LOL. dubas is not giving a fringe 4th liner 3 million and he has no chanceto even ask that with his crappy play.

- RogerRoeper

Hopefully we watch Barrie play before giving him $8m for 8 years 😳

Don't sign Muzzin but keep Barrie.
- RogerRoeper

He’s 2 years younger but Muzzin is way ahead of Barrie in the analytics dept. Not sure Dubas will just let Muzzin walk and I doubt we trade away players at the deadline, but who knows.
