The 70s Italian spaghetti splatter B horror movies in general are a rich source of bad films that are hard to watch yet hard to look away from.

you can let the UFAs walk, but you still need to replace them with something

your "cap issues" won't be as bad next year as they are this year.....but you're being a little naïve if you think you're going to get everyone easily in under the cap.

and next year you don't have an easy fix like you did this year with Marleau and Zaitsev. if you want to move salary next year, it's guys like Kapanen, Nylander, etc......you'll lose guys that will negatively impact your roster.

and all this is assuming you get Marner for a reasonable number

and almost immediately following that, Andersen and Rielley will be due for massive raises.

it's a good problem to have....that many good players who need new contracts.....but it's dumb and naïve to act like it isn't an actual problem.

I think Muzzin is high given his age. He'll be 31 next summer so you're not buying his best years. Barrie is maybe a bit high for those same reasons ...you'll be buying him into his mid 30's.

Dermott is going to have a half season to earn that next contract. His resume is already pretty light. I think to get 3+ he'd need to have a big year and big playoffs ...maybe become a 20+ minute kind of guy. So maybe but I think he's likely 2'ish. And yeah, Goat is 700k or replaced.
