Like I said, a horrible stretch.

I get why people would get a chuckle out of the Giroux thing, but "one of the funniest headlines" ever seems a bit out there.

- jmatchett383

Why take it so literal? I probably say “funniest thing ever” and “coolest thing ever” on a day to day basis. Standard hyperbole in modern vernacular. Means nothing.

Do you mean that "literally," or the other "literally," which happens to mean the exact opposite of "literally" and has made it into the dictionary because people are too (frank)ing stupid to use words and phrases correctly?

Ah you're one of those guys. How triggered do you get when people say “irregardless” around you?

That one doesn't bother me, because although it means the exact same thing as the opposite of itself (regardless), it doesn't have an opposite definition of its true one.

But I do get triggered by "should of" and "could of" because I just assume that most people on here have taken 10th grade English classes, although I rarely ever call people out on it.

By the way, how is DC treating you?

I guess I was a lucky one

Its part of our dialect here, its wrong, but just something a lot of people say around here (where I live).

I usually just say, "You're better than this," and it's tongue-in-cheek, I don't really care that much. Plus you're Canadian, so I'll give you some leeway. Do you guys have indoor plumbing yet?

Pretty poopty to be perfectly honest. My interim clearance wasn’t granted this time around which likely means the defense contracting firm I was going to join and was really excited about is going to pull it’s offer. We’ll see though cus they’ve already shelled out the money to sponsor me so maybe it’s worth it to them to keep the offer on the table and see what happens with the final adjudication in a couple of months.

But anyways, poop happens and I’m still young so I can’t get too caught up on it. My wedding date is officially less than a month away now so it’s better to focus on that part of my life than this other stuff.

Just seems like people doing sexual things under the influence is funny to him.

Yes, one destroyed a man's promising career and one netted a man a stay in a cell for a night, but they're both people making bad decisions related to alcohol/drugs.

And yes, it's a horrible stretch.

- jmatchett383

One was an addict with a history of abuse and the other was a frat boy getting in trouble for being a frat boy. That's the difference. I worked in drug and alcohol counseling it is easy to spot repetitive damage that leads to issue and just being a drunken fool one night at a bar.

I'm absolutely certain that the basics behind should've were taught WELL before 10th grade English.

Any reason why your clearance got pulled?

And congrats on the wedding man. Plans for the honeymoon?

And like I said, it was a horrible stretch.

And yes, while I didn't sit there and laugh maniacally, I gave a slight chuckle and the Giroux thing and moved on. I didn't see how it was so jaw-droppingly hilarious.

Well I’ve never been fully cleared. I had an interim when I was at the DoD and they just never concluded the case after my interim was granted because it wasn’t worth the effort to fully clear a guy who’s internship would have already concluded by the time the case was fully adjudicated. So I had to start at square one again this time around and I guess the FSO in charge of my case saw red flags in my application this time around that my previous FSO didn’t despite the fact that I turned in a carbon copy of my previous application. I will admit that it wasn’t the most squeaky clean application in the world so I really don’t have anyone to blame but myself for my own stupid decisions in college, but given that they had overlooked the bad stuff before this came as a pretty bad shock.

Yeah, we’re going to the Yucatán for a week right afterwards. It’ll be a great time getting back to the tropics. Just hope my fiancée doesn’t melt while we’re down there. She’s a Michigander and sometimes doesn’t do very well in the heat.

I guess at least for me hockey players usually aren’t caught in public having personalities often, so seeing a guy like Claude do that was totally unexpected and gave me a laugh. If it was someone like PK who I’ve seen be a goofball on camera before or MAF or someone who id expect it from, it would have been less funny. Surprise is an essential element of humor.

Just asking why a lapse is judgement while drunk was "one of the funniest" things you'd ever read. I just figured you'd find headlines about people being impaired under the influence of drugs and alcohol funny.

I don't take it personal as it had literally no effect upon me or my family.

Flagged for the personal insult, as well.

If ZAR is making a mil he better learn how to fight and be willing to block shots with his face. He’s not getting any faster, bigger or more skilled. I’d rather pay Wilson that.
