The Leafs for sure. Was looking into it and they haven't even won in the past 50+ years!

They are so close to the cap, but get bounced in the first round EVERY season. Add to that their best player (by far), Mitch Marner, is probably going to get offer sheeted and leave for 4 first round draft picks that will all be 28-31 because Marner makes any team an instant favorite to win. If he does somehow sign in Toronto, it will be a massive overpayment that will cripple the team and make it impossible for them to win.

Things are bad in Toronto, and I can't think of any team that is even close.

It must be cool to be able to make calls to a bunch of insiders. Imagine just being able to call someone on the inside in Pittsburgh and try to verify how the contract proposal is going for Gardiner. Again, plenty of $ for Barrie, Dermott is a good young D and Rielly is a #1 D at a steal. Sandin and Lilljegren wiill be entry-level.

I think you missed the point about this thread. The thread asked which team is "most desperate" NOT "which team's window is closing".

Penguins won 3 cups over the last decade. Yes, their window is closing, but they succeeded and to a lesser extent Washington aswell.

Vegas window is wide open, and they have no pressure since they've only been in the league for 2 years.

True. If it was say, sometime in the mid/late-60's, I'm pretty sure people would tease the Leaf fans about that from time to time. And I'm pretty sure that's never happened. I'm pretty sure the Leafs won just about a decade ago, but I'd have to look it up.

Omg! Vancouver never even crossed my mind. Yeah, they're pretty desperate. Pettersson and Boeser are great pieces to build around, but their D is one of the thinnest in the league. I hope Demko pans out in net.
