Do you guys have a 1C in the waiting to replace Bergy? - RafiDRW
Negative
We've been drafting a ton of centers, but to get that high quality one you need to pick towards the top of the draft. Last time we did that, we sent him to Dallas! Jack Studnicka is probably our best bet. I think he's more of second line center though. I think that's part of the reason we made a serious push for Tavares last off season (apart from the obvious). |

Ah, Chia. Gutting teams and leaving them in trouble. Please let the Canucks hire him as GM in charge of trades and Benning in charge of signings.
Studnicka looks alright. Crazy how thin you guys are at top end forward depth for the next wave of players. Not the worst, but definitely a concern. |

I honestly think there is close to 0% chance Chiarelli ever gets another job as GM in the NHL.
The way he (frank)ed up in Edmonton is beyond anything anyone could have foreseen.
He's done. |

As long as he doesn’t become a disgruntled analyst like Milbury, I’m okay with this.
MM has to be the worst on TV in either country. |

2015 could've changed that real quick. I was at a bar watching that draft, downed my beer, settled my tab and walked the (frank) home. I was so angry. Everyone knew the move was to draft Connor and Barzal at forward. They at least took the (at the time) best available defenseman, but that also backfired. It is what it is. I've probably just got around to accepting it.

They had so much on their plate during that draft. I have no idea why they did what they did. Those three picks in a row. Ugh. |

Maybe they felt they could afford to gamble on guys they really liked because they had 3 picks in the first round.

Gamble is definitely the right term for what they did. Hindsight is 20/20 but people were pissed as it happened. |

I think they got tunnel vision. They went into acquiring all of those picks to move up and select Hanafin. When no one wanted to deal they got 'stuck' with them and scrambled to figure out who to draft. It was Sweeney's first draft and I think it partly showed with the organization behind it. They've drafted very well with regards to their positioning in the draft since then. Hell, they took Carlo in the 2nd round of that draft. I still can't believe he got a 1st, Jones, and Colin Miller for Lucic. Jones was immediately flipped into a 1st (also a great trade). So he in essence got 2 1sts and colin miller for a year of Lucic. I hated the Hamilton trade at the time and that was mostly due to the compensation. After seeing him get dealt again and some stories about how he wanted out of Boston, I give Sweeney a pass on that one. |

Seems Lucic being dealt is a winner for those teams who deal him.
On Hamilton, he’s a weird story. Feel like there’s so much more we aren’t really hearing. |
