nvm the flyfishing, it's all about the nature - food for the soul...
- 21peter

I'm more of a lake guy for some reason, but yes, all about the nature, particularly because I don't get into it much anymore.

Go back to the hole you were in since 2006 Bob. We don't want that poop around here.

I can't get into fishing/hunting. Just a lot of standing around, waiting hours for 10 seconds of action. Kinda like baseball, but much colder/wetter.
- jmatchett383

Yeah, no, caught an 80 pound tarpin in the keys it was about a 1hour and fifteen minutes of standing around fighting the fish.

Then I caught a 40 pound Bullhead, only took about 15 minutes of standing around and fighting it.
This was a 4 hour trip on a private boat.

I found that everything I like about fishing: the canoeing, the nature, the tranquility, the camaraderie - can all be achieved without the actual fishing. I just drink beer instead.

I've never tried hunting, but I would really like to. Unfortunately, there's no way you can just go try hunting. You really need a hunter to invite you. Sadly, I'm a city slicker.

Hunting is pretty fun if you're good at it...though there are a lot of times you're just sitting in a tree dusting off spiders.

You really need to pass a couple of courses unless you want to just be a bystander, Cause I have a gun License I can let you shoot at targets but animals you can not shoot without a hunting license.

It's a good idea when hunting bears in the middle of a Russian summer.

I had a boss about a decade ago who said that he would be allowed to hand me his rifle and I could shoot it, as long as I was next to him.

I have no idea if this is correct or not, but he was a pretty big hunter and had written some articles for some hunting and fishing magazine.

He always hinted that he would take me, but I never got the actual invitation. Then he retired.

I also knew a dad in our neighbourhood who would go bow hunting for deer, but that just seemed a little too weird for me. He was a bit weird, too, so the idea of being out with him alone for 6 hours didn't really appeal to me.

He was correct but only at targets, can't shoot wildlife without a hunting license.

I could never shoot a wolf after reading this book:

Fantastic read.

Call me a bleeding heart sissy, but if I'm shooting something, I have to be able to eat it.

That's correct.
Maybe we can fly to Russia and buy one off the streets and leave it there when we are done.
