Ek got it right, Habs aren't even on the list. You could argue the Habs are desperate to make the playoffs having missed the last couple years but with the best prospect pool in hockey coming in the next 1-3 years making a mistake out of desperation could throw a wrench into all of that. Stay the course, you'll be a contender in 2-3 years.

That's the point. Trotz and Babcock have both had a lot of futile seasons because the playoffs are hard.
