Kessel will always be a Penguin. |

I don’t recall the end of his Duck’s time or the start of Kunitz’s tenure here but did Kunitz play like a young Kunitz before arriving in the Burgh?
Yes. If you give his numbers a quick look, you'll see that he was pretty consistent until his final couple seasons with the Pens, when his age and style started catching up with him. |

I don’t know. His stint as a lumberjack/Jedi is one of my fondest memories. |

Good God I hope Tanev does well this year. Then maybe RW will shut up about it. Who am I kidding, he just likes to female dog. |

Can you blame him? It’s a terrible contract. |

Tanev will be fine. He's a solid hockey player. It's the contract RW hates. Unless Tanev puts up 40+ points, be prepared for plenty blogs about who the Pens could have had if not for that contract. |

I think he will play well. Another Steve Downie and Blake Comeau situation. I liked them in Pittsburgh. |

Trying to be positive for a moment and not look at contracts and cap there is one positive for this year's Pens and that's forward depth. They have players capable of playing anywhere in the lineup. The fact that Rust, Simon, Tanev or even McCann could play on the fourth line says something to depth. |

It's not that bad. Not the way he talks about. It's not Milan Lucic or the guy traded for him James Neal. You want bad contracts?
Here are two:
Nielsen, Frans 35 $5,250,000 for 3 more years
Abdelkader, Justin 32 $4,250,000 for 4 more years. |

There are plenty of bad contracts around the league, so what? That doesn't mean a GM should make them because other teams did, too. |

Crippling? No. I'm not being that dramatic. However, the Pens already have two bad contracts, so adding this one makes it harder for the Pens to go after big fish. |

It’s pretty bad. Wings have a ton of them. (frank)ing sucks. Stick to topic. For what stance brings, his contract is egregious. Length is horrid. Term is ugh. |

Good, at least you're reasonable. The mistake contract was Hornqvist. Four more years @ 5.3 Mil AVV for a guy who is hurt a lot. That was done purely on emotion. Unfortunately, this is how very successful teams go down hill. Chicago did it with Seabrook. It's hard but sometimes a GM has to let go. |

There were a few mistake contracts, but yes, that one was ill-advised. |

OK so what would a good contract for him be? Three years @ $3 million a season?
