It's a horrible system. There has been talk of going back to 1 vs 8 etc at the next GM meeting but who knows. It's all about who Bettman wants in the PO's in collusion with Vegas. - LordHumungous

yeah for sure, but i think thats more because of bad juju, as per every other year
the real collusion is what the rfa contracts actually look like. both sides playing it hard. this summer's going to have a lasting impact on these type of deals moving forward. no one wants to get it wrong.
its been building since mcdavid and matthews signed. then nylander was an eye opener. now marner and friends. - BobBot
Yes. Looks like more of a stand off. These RFA's aren't signing offer sheets either because they are all pushing for short term contracts not wanting to give up UFA years. As for the clubs, if you are losing so many futures on an OS you would want long term lock in. |

I think also that they need to get it right. I think it is stupid paying Boeser 7 mil. |

If its a Jets cap issue then why take on more cap back in trade? Plus if we gave them futures or prospects like Podkolozin, Tryamkin that doesn't effect their cap the Canucks then would have to move players to fit him into cap. - NuckUp
The Jets spreading the cap over 3 players is helpful. Question is what it takes to trade. Only my 1st offer thinking on what needs they have. |

Injuries are always a concern for every team. I know I keep repeating myself but I figure they will be doing less shot blocking which have caused many many injuries over the years .Another thing is when a Canuck does get injured they will have a better selection of replacements coming up from the Comets. They won't be turning to Gaunce this year.
I am not sure Canucks are finished making moves yet either . I said before they will make two trades this summer so far only one so I am expecting another one.
I think Canuck will be close to 92 pts but if they fail they should still be an entertaining team. - VANTEL
Also, the schedule is significantly better - I expect the new schedule format will lead to less injuries and be good for at least 5 additional wins alone.

88 points seems reasonable as an upper limit goal they could reach. They've also got to have another good season on the shootouts. I figure 5th seems about right, 4th if Arizona falls back, always a possibility, and they'll be 10th/11th overall. They ain't a playoff team unless 2-3 teams from last year's playoffs crater and the Nucks go relatively injury free. That's a bank shot Willie Mosconi might have trouble making. |

Need to improve on winning divisional & conference games against teams we need to beat out. SJ & Arizona specifically. |

I'd normally say TO will do what it always does but I think kadri has been the reason for their colapses. - SMBDragon
I know grit can be thrown around too much but TO seems like a very soft team to me, especially come playoff time. Who is going to ramp it up for them when the tome comes? To me that guy was Kadri (hence their struggles when he got suspended) and now he is gone.
I think the Tavares signing was a big mistake - improved team and players before they were ready and ended up having to pay too much on second contracts. He is not someone who drives playoff wins either. Will be interesting to see how they perform. |

I think 90 pts is realistic based on what we know. Another 5 wins would be perfect. Moving forward. |

NYI went farther than the Leafs without Tavares than with him...says something.
TO has addressed one need with Barrie but if Gardiner and Marner sit out...look out.
They still need another top 4 dman and somehow to get Anderson to play well the last month of the season and not choke in PO's.
Plus they haven't solved the Babcock-Matthews issues yet. Lots to do in TO before they see the conference final. |

We gotta clean up on the Ducks & Kings & Oilers. The Yotes & SJ season series could be where our PO aspiration lay. |

88 points seems realistic if everything goes pretty much perfect, at least Canucks perfect. Outside looking in for one more year, which is fine because next year’s draft is deep. |

This is the other problem. We walk into Tampa, WAS, PIT, BOS and win games vs top clubs then lay eggs vs ARZ, LA, ANA and other bottom clubs in the league. Gotta clean that up. |

I dunno ...apparently we are past the give up first rounder stage and on to the sign bad free agent contracts and trade for equally bad contracts phase lol |
