Couple reasons.. (but I’m in Muskoka rn, and have been for 7 months)

The money..

The beautiful scenery (literally the most beautiful place in earth)

Living in the city, it’s not like the rural parts.

The fishing

The skiing

And mostly the piece of mind that comes with being 3000km from everyone you grew up around. There’s no one asking you to come help out in the weekend, there’s no family drama, none of that poop..

Yeah, so maybe Marner signs a 10.5 x 6 deal vs October?

You know what I hate? I (frank)ing hate talking about cap wranglin'.

(frank) the salary cap, bring on a luxury tax.

I would kindly ask that you consider that it's easier for idiots to blend into the forest on twitter because there's so many of them.

Again, you really got me!!!

Thankfully, I'm not the ostrich placing his head in the sand.

The Leafs had two years to get it done. The window is now closed and the best result they had was making it to game 7... of the first round of the playoffs.

Dont hate others because they're living life with their eyes open.

I hated Alberta, but I also grew up there. There is opportunity to make good money fast, or there was back in the early 2000s anyway. Perfect for that guy that flies to Thailand every month to bang a tranny or whatever. There is a lot to be said for being thousands of miles away from the goofs you grew up with, though.

Yeah man..

I went out with $100 to my name, made great coin and good friends, fell in love with the mountains.. If you hang around degenerates then you’ll be dismayed. But if you find your clique, it’s a great place to be. But you’re right, being far from your past is a great weight lifted off your shoulders, it give you more freedom to be who you want to be, opposed to being whoever people expect you to be. Plus, the good friends and fam let you know they miss you and come visit, while the pretenders fade away into obscurity.

So is Mikheyev any good at all, does he auto get third line LW? I guess I mean more so after Hyman's return.

I know he is very limited ceiling but I loved Moore's game in the playoffs. All 5'10" of him put Chara on his ass at least once.

Probably a reach to expect a sub-10 minute player to grab a spot on L3 but Moore-Kerfoot-Kapanen would have some serious, serious wheels.

Really wouldn't count on it.

The Leafs have brought in several guys like this before and the long schedule, plus never having played on North American ice is always an uphill battle for them. They tend to last half the season then hit a wall.

He seems to at least have NHL size but I'd probably say he'll bring no more than Lindholm did last year.

I'd be much more interested to see what Engvall can do for the Leafs 3rd line, LW. Much bigger body, much more NA experience and has paid his dues with the Marlies.

Oh I'm sure he will hate Babs by Christmas. Imagine a second in three years, Swedish 7th rounder cracking the already deep forward group. I have no links or stats to back it up but it really feels like Toronto has produced mid-late round NHLers for the last 15 years.

Even guys like Leivo are still getting borderline top 6 ice time somewhere....lol

Also admittedly I've never watched a single Marlies game outside of some playoff highlights last year. Johnsson looked like a legit NHLer, does Engvall, can he skate? He strikes me as a bit of tweener that maybe couldn't keep up at the highest level. I literally have nothing to base that opinion off of.

Who will hate Babcock? Early word was that Babcock liked the Russian, that's why they got him in the first place.

But we've seen Borgman, Lindholm, Ozhiganov, Zaitsev, Rosen...these guys all had serious limitations and ending up being bottom of the line-up depth, at best. At worst, liabilities that got dumped.

Leafs are really going to need some of these late round picks to turn into gems. They have something crazy like five 7th rounders next draft. They need these cheap contracts to turn into legit contributors.

At 6'5", 210, Engvall has a good shot if he comes prepared and plays heavy.

Maybe it's simply "Pierre" that doesn't scream heavy to me?

Plays on the PP with the Marlies, has a hard shot, pretty good skater and he's got a really big body. Even been in a fight.

People can go crazy and compare him to Franzen but he should at least be a good 3rd liner if he gets the chance.

He could be Candyass Engvall for all I care, as long as he plays well.

He has played a bit of center, spent most of his time on the 3rd/4th lines, has killed some penalties and knows how to play a role.

Guy plays like a (dark) horse in the corners too which is one really big area of concern for the Leafs. He's built strong and he plays strong.

I think he's better than Gauthier because he actually has a shot and might be able to score more.

Hey I really hope you're right even a 15G guy is a nice addition, I like optimism. I wouldn't mind him and Bracco to slow cook for another season though. Try and put up a big year statistically, outside maaaaybe SDA and Korkshov (sp?) the drafted cheap winger pipeline seems to be drying up a bit.

Edit: Heading into the playoffs come April-ish I'd secretly love to see Marchment play his way onto 4LW

I'm not going to wade deeply into the debate (like anyone cares) but I gotta state I'm 100% team Dubas right now, I wouldn't like it but after next season if even if he choses to can Babs I'll trust his judgement.

It's not fair to judge Mark Hunter at all because we just don't know but who thinks Marleau would still be on the team right now? and probably Nylander gone.

I wonder if watching Masai's masterful work emboldened Dubas, two straight firsts out the door no hesitation.

You know who really deserves some love, Shanny. Has this guy had a misstep yet? All he's done is hired gems at every level while keeping the two-headed evil empire at bay. I bet the other billionaires have a man crush on him at the governors meetings, that conjecture may as well be considered fact I think.
