Any relation to Lyndon Larouche?

What about Guy LeDouche?

I think Mario, at his best, was the best player to ever play the game.

I believe even Gretzky said the same thing once.

I've never, ever seen or heard this.

I do find it funny, however, at how some guys get so heated about this debate.

Like, frank, it was pure franking joy to watch them both (and on the same line in Canada Cups!?!? Sploooge!).

Just relax and be happy you saw them.

Hard to say - honestly I think it was Bobby Orr, despite only 2 cups. Would literally skate around an entire team while opposition watched and looked incompetent. Gretzky/Mario/Howe were all sensatonal different skill sets but hard to say any better than another.

It's hard to argue against Orr, because no defenceman before him ever won the scoring championship, and I don't believe it will ever happen again.

Sadly, I only really have fuzzy memories of him as a Blackhawk.

Agreed. It was a great time to watch hockey.

And I think it was near the Olympics the last one Mario played in.

Doesn't really matter.

I'm clearly biased on this since I've never seen Howe or Orr play.

But their results speak for themselves.

One leg.....multiple knee operations....could hardly walk....

Scored I believe something like 23 point in 18 games....incredible.

Then had to hang em up....

* edit.....I looked it up. 26 games over 2 partial seasons...29 points. Still, Incredible!!!

Dead as dead can be. Best player is Bryzgalov. he has to score on Billy Smith. Damn, I have a goalie taking my shot. Game over!
(If not Bryzgalov....the best might be paul Stanton. I think I let Bryzgalov give it a go.)

- hawk35

I have Neely against Smith, 50-50 here I think.

I'm in the Gretzky over Mario camp, but I think that if I had to pick one of them to take a penalty shot, I'd pick Mario.

Which is kinda what I said when I said I'd pick Mario to take the penalty shot.

So it's good to see that Gretzky agrees with me.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but somebody told me that if Orr had the same knee injury today, they would perform arthroscopic surgery on him and he would have been good as new.

My most vivid memory of Orr is actually my dad telling me about a rumour that Orr was going to go to the Soviet Union to try some sort of new surgery that was going to fix his knee. I still remember my dad being weirdly excited - he loved watching Orr.
