I see Vegas and the oilers battling for first all year...getting Neal will solidify the top line with mcdavid and a few kids are ready for top six as well as on the blue line... Arizona and San Jose third/fourth,Canucks or flames fifth/sixth, then Anaheim and Kings... - oil90
lol...getting the Flames worst player will put the Oilers in their spot? okay buddy |

Do you really believe Neal isnt going to improve from last years debacle... I dont think anybody in oil land thinks of him as a saviour, but pretty sure he will be highly motivated this year. If he can find chemistry with one of Mcd-Drai-Nuge he will be a very good pick up... |

Worse representation of an Oilers fan:
JB
Or
oil90
Or
Jero/Iggy.
Thats right i pot them together over the other 2.
I still think its a toss up between 1 and 2. - wreckage
Pretty much have to go with JB on this. Why? Because it's (frank)ing JB.
You were right to pot iggy/jero together as they are essentially the same person. |

He will be gifted top line minutes and likely score more than last year
The Point
how does that make the Oilers finish above the Flames? Or better at all? Neal scoring 20 with McDavid doesn't improve the Oilers. Calgary had 107 points last year and Neal did not contribute. Guy had the Oilers fighting for first and the Flames near the bottom...such a fanboy prediction |

The Oilers will not finish above the Flames unless the wheels in Calgary fall right off

How did the playoffs go for ya...reg season stats are for ufa's...Neal wouldn't have disappeared like your so called top six if they would have played him but your coach is pig headed...funny how 10 straight years neal is money on every team untill he goes to the flames... |

That guy should have a pre-season run-on paragraph/blog about the Oilers up in the myhockeybuzz section by now. |

You think Klefbom is better than Ekman Larsson? That Larsson is better than Hjalmarsson? That Nurse is better than Chychrun? That any one of Benning, Manning or Russell is better than Goligoski, Demers or Oesterle?
It’s not even close. Of all the things I said, claiming that the Coyotes top ranked D is better than the oilers bottom ranked d is the least controversial. - Dahlmanyotes
Ekman Larsson > Klefbom
Hjalmarsson = Larsson
Chychrun < Nurse
Caleb Jones > the rest of the names on that list |

He is so good he has been on six teams? in nine years...is that your argument?
He had 44 points and was -11 on a first place Knights team (Money?) Oilers paying him 6.5M
Neal was given minutes until it was obvious he couldn't handle them...him blowing game four was just the final straw.
Sure he could score 20 with McDavid...so did a PTO guy that the Flames cut. It doesn't improve the Oilers
Flames will finish 20-30 points higher again...don't suggest the Oilers will be anywhere near them in the standings because they swapped fourth liners |

To the person who said Colorado hasn’t had many changes: they have a new goalie, traded away their 1RD, and completely rebuilt their second line with Burakovsky, Kadri, and Donskoi. They should be good but that’s definitely considerable change imo - WSCTeton17
Colorado lost their backup goalie and promoted a guy who spent time as their backup to replace him. Thats not a new player. They also lost a offensively minded defenseman. Nothing else of significance. They then added Kadri, Burakovsky, and Donskoi as 3 additions. Could be 2nd or 3rd line players depending on performance in the mile high city. So potentially 2-3.5 roster changes that were not in the system. That isnt much especially considering they didnt lose anything significant besides a 3rd liner in Kerfoot and a 1 way (although great at the 1 way) dman. But this is also Colorado who tends to like to rotate between good and off years. |

This is just an ignorant comment that doesn’t understand analytics. I watch all of the games, and analytics are developed based on what the eyes see. It provides the ability to pick up things with your eyes, quantify it, and then being able to see 1000s of events at once.
Your comment is the equivalent of saying “I can predict the weather a week from Tuesday better than forecast models, because I look at the sky with my eyes.” It’s not rooted in truth, math, science...and frankly my unvarnished response is that it’s stupid.
I’d recommend reading a book like Superforecasting to understand better before commenting. - Dahlmanyotes
Have fun watching just analytics while i watch and appreciate the game in its full glory instead of concentrating on numbers. Unless you are paid to use analytics they are for hobbiests, bloggers, and people too serious about their fantasy teams. As now 2 Coyotes fans have proven to us, too much analytics is not that worthy. But continue to call Arizona a threat. I will sit back and watch 3 or more Pacific clubs make the playoffs before the Coyotes. And i am not saying the Oilers will be one team above them. I dont wear my teams glasses, especially not at this of year. Many more move to be made. |
