Tchapunk isn't an oiler....

Tkachuk is an awesome player that we would die to have. Your weak ass nicknames are a pretty weird form of jealousy. Are you Hallfan?

He is so good he has been on six teams? in nine years...is that your argument?

He had 44 points and was -11 on a first place Knights team (Money?) Oilers paying him 6.5M

Neal was given minutes until it was obvious he couldn't handle them...him blowing game four was just the final straw.

Sure he could score 20 with McDavid...so did a PTO guy that the Flames cut. It doesn't improve the Oilers

Flames will finish 20-30 points higher again...don't suggest the Oilers will be anywhere near them in the standings because they swapped fourth liners

Hey (frank) face. Just because we retained salary on Lucic, doesn’t mean it’s going to Neal.

A lost point that I used on the last blog....Neal’s contract remains the same but that seems to get lost on some of these Flames fans

essentially it is though since the Oilers had to retain to get the deal through

Oilers with LESS cap space, seems to be lost on many around here

No it’s not you couldn’t be anymore wrong.....it’s Neal and his contract then Lucics 12.5%.....that is how it will be written in the books so to speak and yes we lost 500K in space but such is life and it won’t effect the 24 mil we have coming next off season

Nor does it impact that the worst case scenario for us involves a Neal buyout that costs us 1.8mil along with 750k from Lucic. It's like a (more than) half-retained Lucic trade that only costed us a conditional 3rd!

Do you really believe Neal isnt going to improve from last years debacle... I dont think anybody in oil land thinks of him as a saviour, but pretty sure he will be highly motivated this year. If he can find chemistry with one of Mcd-Drai-Nuge he will be a very good pick up...
- oilpatch

There's no doubt that Neal improves. He's going to be playing in the top 6. Mcdavid should be able to bank more than 7 goals off him. Still rather have Looch

Ah right 750k my bad .....in that sense it’s a win for us.....now to clear up confusion for some notice I didn’t say win the trade? There is a difference between the 2 statements.....if flashfire requires it I can break out the crayons and paper if it comes down to it

Man I would wait 20 or so games into the season before you say that just call it an opinion based on watching him for the past few seasons....the reality of it all is we don’t know how either guy will do with their new clubs buts it’s something we will all watch this coming season

Have fun watching just analytics while i watch and appreciate the game in its full glory instead of concentrating on numbers. Unless you are paid to use analytics they are for hobbiests, bloggers, and people too serious about their fantasy teams. As now 2 Coyotes fans have proven to us, too much analytics is not that worthy. But continue to call Arizona a threat. I will sit back and watch 3 or more Pacific clubs make the playoffs before the Coyotes. And i am not saying the Oilers will be one team above them. I dont wear my teams glasses, especially not at this of year. Many more move to be made.

They don’t even have a 1st line center.

We arent paying neal and additional 750k, we are paying Lucic 750k to play somewhere else. Its like that scene in moneyball where David Justice is like i dont care, youre still paying me 6 million to play and Brad Pitt replies, no im not. Im paying you 1 million, the yankees are paying you 5 million to not play for them. Considering we were willing to eat up to 3 million for him to not play for us anymore 750k is nothing.

I was thinking we would be eating salary and giving up a 1st round pick. 750k and a conditional 3rd is a dream come true.

And that gets you 26 points behind the Flames last year. The Oilers have high end talent but their supporting cast is putrid. And for those of you who watched Lucic for the past two seasons you can understand what Flames fans watched of Neal last year. He was easily the worst player on the ice every game he played for the Flames - not close. Good luck.

People can spin the trade all they want. Holland wins this one, I believe this is true before they lace their skates up this season. I can’t believe he pulled this off.

That’s because I think Nuge could be a #1 center on a bunch of teams including them.
