Lol, I'm just messing with you leaf fans, it can be fun lol

The ironic thing is that I don't necessarily disagree with you.

He is overpaid for a contract with a 5 year term, and his injury history is a bit concerning.

Mathews = frail overpayment! That is all.
- Bubbs613

Agreed.
Glad Mathews is not on the leafs.

That is all.

Me too, a little disappointing we didn't get him for 7/8 year term for that money.

But i'm over it.

Yep - he's still my boy despite all this.

I can't wait for him to go all beast mode for a full season just to see the damage he can do. When he's in the zone it's like men versus boys.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

On a side note. The Jays seem to be turning this Stroman thing into a gong show.

Ya he has a lot of qualities but never send him on a 2 on 1 with him carrying the puck. I don’t think he completed one pass last year like that.
- bryant

The funny thing is, the previous season he had a bunch of 2 on 1 opportunities and he passed almost every time, and he managed to put it right on the tape of his line mate's stick....unfortunately that line mate was Uncle Leo, who didn't finish any of the attempts.

He also misses the net a ton. I like Kap, the fact he’s on the leafs 3rd line is pretty sweet. Hopefully him and Kerfoot can make a nice combo.
- ClarksonDavid

Kapanen could be a top player in the league if he puts in the work.

He is all north south and needs to add some east west to his game.

I think he seems to have the puck so much it seems he misses the net a lot.

last year ( if I'm reading the damn charts right ) he took 289 shots and hit the net 156 times

Nylander the year before too 279 shots and hit the next 133 times.

You should probably double check my work.

- Garnie

Not sure where you got the numbers. on NHL.com, they show Nylander last year has having 130 shots on net and 60 Missed Shots, so he's about 68%; the year before he had 184 shots on net and 81 missed shots - about 69%.

The most accurate guys were Marleau and Hyman at 73.8% with Marner in third at 73%. Zaitsev and Gardiner were the least accurate at 58.2% and 57.4%, respectively.

But he's a 22 year-old franchise centre. It's ok to "Overpay" for that. Don't do it to average players.

No matter what happens with Marleau, if he retires or signs in SJ, he'll always be my favourite Hurricane;

Wait.. So you don't miss the days of Sundin carrying 3 defenders on his back while fighting off a 4th defender, and still able to make a great pass, only to have Hoglund shoot the puck right into the goalie's chest?

Best not to overpay anyone, overpay 1 then everyone has their hands out.

Not sure AM's over paid, just should have been longer IMO
