I can't lie, this is one of my favourite moments. I never liked the Torts signing, although I think he's a decent playoff coach. About the only thing that excited me about him being hired is I figured he'd be a poop show which in itself is entertaining.

Lol, that's pretty good. Roping in the Metallica talk from the other week, it reminds me of:
I was at game 7 round 1 in 2011 vs. The hawks and that burrows nucklepuck goal in OT was insane. That’s top 10, maybe too 5. Literally took the monkey off the back.

This is my memory, being at game 3 in 1982, I remember the "Bossy Gives Milk" sign and the towel that went all the way around the Pacific Coliseum which was about 5 rows below us.

That's pretty cool.
I'd forgotten for a bit about Clark Gillies, hell of a hockey player. What a stacked team that Islander dynasty was.

I wasn't too happy about the torts signing but kept an open mind. His time here was worse than I'd imagined .....but I will say this for him, he defends his players. Some coaches will hang players out to dry AV and BB come to mind. But torts always defended them both physically such as he Calgary incident and to the press when they try to blame a player.
I also think for short stints he's effective, full seasons not so much. International competition seems to be his best.

Love or hate Torts he was never invested in this club. Lived in Point Roberts and never coached practises...he could have cared less.

He's a volatile coach, he crushes as many players as he defends.
He's like a modern day Mike Keenan, like you said good for stretches.
One of the best moments was Gino going hog wild against the blues. He tried to fight all of them and Glenn Anderson was using the ref as a human shield. Classic!

Yes. After that year I've felt there should be a clause in coaches contracts that cancels the contract if they fail to deliver in ways like this. If you're not coaching practices on a regular basis etc.
The torts clause

Keenan is 10x the coach torts is. He knows the game and how to win. The clear difference between the 2 is Keenan left teams better than when he came, he makes winners. Torts leaves teams a mess. Vancouver's rise began with iron Mike. Naslund credited him with the resurrection of his career and turning him into a superstar.
For those who don't know Keenan is the only coach to win both the Stanley cup and the khl cup

Keenan's legacy in Vancouver is the Todd Bertuzzi trade.....twice.
Sure you do. You just forgot to take your Donpezil today.🤔🤔 - Shuswap Wap
just joking, of course, I like to play the part of "hater", but in actuality, I've had lots of great memories watching the team. Just so happens I have a lot of bad ones too.
