Kadri is the best hockey player in the deal, don't kid yourself. He may be a grade A douchebag but he's the best player in the deal.

I bet you felt as strongly about him when he was still a leaf. Kadri is on his way down. He never was fast and last year seemed to have lost a step. Leafs got a centre who is younger, faster and equaled his point total last year.

Kerfoot at this point isn't half the player Kadri is. Barrie is signed for 1 year, and the cost to the Leafs is an absolute steal.

They may have upgraded with Barrie/Gardiner but that's highly debatable.

They've really just punted on the cap for one season, and that cost a 1st round pick.

Kapanen was signed to a great contract, so that's a win.

If Barrie walks after this season Kadri for Kerfoot is a disaster

This year I would because theres more value there money wise, not really interested in Barrie at 8 per

One thing not being discussed is how a weak bottom 6 gets punked come playoff time when the Home Teams use last change

Then all those guys on ELC's and Vet minimums don't tend to look so hot out against other teams top lines

Just having NHL calibre players is a huge plus.

It's certainly a risk. But there's no guarantee Barrie walks. There's no guarantee he signs. Dubas bought himself some time with this trade.

We know what Kadri is. Kerfoot isn't as good right now but he hasn't plateaued yet. Gardiner may or may not be damaged goods. Barrie is the best player in this trade. The Avs only win it if Barrie walks.

I don't like the Leafs third and fourth lines right now but that's why I previously mentioned how Dubas has all season and the trade deadline to add good rentals to compliment the big studs. Maybe a kid like Bracco steps up and provides that quality depth for the playoffs.

Not with the way LTIR works

They are going to be capped out deep into the LTIR and will only be able to shuffle the guys they got in and out of the AHL, and they are going to have to clear waivers when they do it

That was the significance of the "7 guys signed" all in the one day - That's the Leafs depth for pretty much the entire season or guys on the Marlies on 2-ways

They won't be able to bank any cap space for the deadline either, any trades would pretty much have to be dollar for dollar

It's a joke...whenever they have these who is the worst in the league it's designed to get huge hits...clowns like cordely or Tanner rip on the oilers...predictable as ever...anything oilers draws the most crowds...win or lose...

says the guy who thinks Larsson carried the Oilers to the playoffs a few years ago..

I usually come here for comedic relief from Eklund and some of bloggers. Todd and Sean never disappoint in their incompetence.

There is no debate, Barrie is better than Gardiner. Everyone thought that prior to July 1st

This Kadri looked slower. He's turning 29 soon.

Just stepping in here to kick Edmonton again.

Is there ONE NHL calibre player in the bottom 6 there?

One could ask if there is an elite or bonafide star player anywhere in the Sens top 12.

There isn't, but at least most of their players are technically NHL capable, just none of them are very good.
