The Minnesota Wild let their GM sign a 32 year old to a 5 year, $30 million deal with a no move clause on July 1st and then fired him before the month was even up |

I made that mistake with basketball. Turns out the final 2 minutes are nothing more than exchanging intentional fouls, free throws, and both coaches using all of their 1,000 timeouts. - Maskdman3
Only basketball game I've watched was while I was in Columbus and the Cav's won the basketball trophy. |

I have been to a few baseball games. Liked it as a kid, not so much as an adult.
I got the Blueclaws 2 towns away from me. Still haven't been to one of their games yet - mdw7413
Yeah, I'm upset that Camden is no longer a thing to take my son too. The stadium was awesome. Now my options are take him to Trenton (yuck Trenton and Yankees affiliate) or make the drive to Wilmington (which is a pretty fun stadium though getting a bit long in the tooth). Fun fact, Wilmington was set to become a Mets AA affiliate, but in LOLMets fashion, of course that fell through. |

I don't think Hextall will ever be a GM again. From what I've read he was a toxic bumhole. Well, he was a Flyer... - Fenrir
There are way worse GMs than Hextall that have gotten a second chance. Hextall's problem was that he was way too patient. All of your prospects will not pan out. If he was going to go that route, he should have sold off Giroux and/or Voracek at the very beginning. |

Taking the kids makes it fun too I would think. Maybe I will just steal one of my neighbors kids to get the whole father son baseball game experience |

Hextall did an excellent job drafting with the Flyers and not trading away their prospects. You could argue he was a little Snow-like in the way he hoarded them, but MIN also doesn't have a great prospect pool and it may not be a terrible idea to let him come in for a few years to rebuild their system. |

I haven't taken my kid to a Mets (or any baseball) game since he was a baby, kid is just too hyper. Taking kids I'm sure makes it fun. Only problem with me is I try not to drink in front of my kid. My dad was a pretty bad alcoholic at times and while I've overcome that, I don't want to influence him since it runs in his blood. Baseball without beer errr, it's OK I guess?

[quote=Tonybere]"Oh no!!! Some idiot just claimed all of our garbage off of waivers!!!!!! What are we going to do now??? We're going to have to play these kids that are the future of our franchise!!!!!! This is terrible!!!!"
Yea Tony let the kids play, they will be better than any veteran, See Pionk
Ignorance is bliss - Brukie
Hey dipsh!t, Pionk was out there getting torched because he WAS the better option to the veterans that were also getting torched. Do you even pay attention, or do you just come on here to try to annoy people?
Besides, you seem to be the only one who didn't realize that TPC was joking around to begin with. Two of them can't even be put on waivers! Way to jump in hook, line and sinker. |

He did a reasonable job for sure. I do think if you look at his firsts, the track record isn't nearly as good as people want to remember. You can't blame him for Patrick, but Morin and JOB are serious busts. Frost looks promising, Farabee looks solid. Really his only good legit top picks were Sanheim and Provorov with Konecky being a good late round pick. Getting Hart was a serious diamond in the rough. |

My daughter was small when I had a Rangers plan for 3 years so never took her to a game. Now she wants to go, so my buddy and I with our families are planning to go to a Phantoms vs Wolfpack game this season. She was supposed to go to the Ducks game with me when we were in San Diego in March, but she was injured. No way I'm paying MSG prices for 7. |

Being there is different. The inning breaks are nice, allows you to hit the restroom and get a beer. Game goes by alot faster live too. I do prefer going to minor league games though. - 2sticks1puck
Absolutely!!!
My wife and I couldn't have been happier when the Jays moved their AAA club to Buffalo. We go several times a season. $14 a ticket, a beautiful ballpark and way more reasonable concession prices. They even offer kids ice cream cones for a buck. |

I don't want to pay MSG prices for one. The only time I can really see the team for cheap is when they are in Philly. You can kind of avoid the turnpike most of the way up there, but it can legit cost a ton in tolls. One time I wasn't thinking and took the turnpike all the way from south jersey, I think it was like 40-50 round trip. Just nuts. I'm hesitant on taking my little kid on the subway too. |

Told you guys, I don't expect anything to happen before tomorrow. I guess that means it could be Shatty that is bought out, since he doesn't have to go through waivers. |

Jokes aside...what's your plan then to get cap complacent? If you don't want other teams claiming our 6th, 7th or 8th d man? Or to buy them out. - TPC
You and I have much different opinions on the rebuild. I would never have signed Panarin, which has put us in this position and continued to the rebuild with the draft and acquired assets and let these awful contracts expire in 2 yrs along with Hanks contract coming off the books..
But since we are in this position now we are in trouble. Trading anyone of the three has to be out because I think if there was a deal it would have been made already. Other GMs know we are in Cap trouble and I doubt anyone of them will be helping us out.
Is it possible Shatty is claimed? I bet he would be, and then we would lose an asset but gained cap space. Who wants to give away assets though? Bad business practice. Buying out Shatty gives us relief now but a 6 mil cap hit next year so it doesnt even make sense to buy him out since we will be in the same boat next year.
Buying out Smith and Staal isnt enough, so now we have to start to trade players who have substantial value, but at a discount. I dont want to trade CK20. Strome is a good second or third line center at a reasonable 3mil per. Names is someone who had drawn alot of fire to because it was perceived he had a bad year. He had to learn a new system under a new coach which is sometimes hard to do and numbers wise it was a down year, but he did go from playing with Stammer and Kuch to playing with Vessey and Mcleod, but look at the whole year. Names started the season on the bench and in the dog house, scratched a few times to ending the season playing in most game situations. Names earned his ice time that Quinn gave him. It seems like Quinn trusted Names a lot more, that tells me he is a young player who matured and grew. He is a valuable asset but yet another player who might be sold off for less than market value.
The thing is the big three players were available for months and werent traded for one reason or another. Thats not a good sign. So we will be eating poop sandwiches I think.
How would I do it if I was thrown into this situation? Id have to make trades that I dont want to make.
We will know soon enough what JG has up his sleeve |
