I haven't taken my kid to a Mets (or any baseball) game since he was a baby, kid is just too hyper. Taking kids I'm sure makes it fun. Only problem with me is I try not to drink in front of my kid. My dad was a pretty bad alcoholic at times and while I've overcome that, I don't want to influence him since it runs in his blood. Baseball without beer errr, it's OK I guess? - 2sticks1puck
My kid loves going to games arena is less important but has great memories from the garden.

I don't want to pay MSG prices for one. The only time I can really see the team for cheap is when they are in Philly. You can kind of avoid the turnpike most of the way up there, but it can legit cost a ton in tolls. One time I wasn't thinking and took the turnpike all the way from south jersey, I think it was like 40-50 round trip. Just nuts. I'm hesitant on taking my little kid on the subway too. - 2sticks1puck
Went to Rangers/Canes last year with my Caniac buddy and his son. $110 per seat and we took the train from New Brunswick. Philly is about 1.5 hours, so don't get down there much unless it's to see bands. Subway can be crazy too, haven't had any problems though besides being packed.
Told you guys, I don't expect anything to happen before tomorrow. I guess that means it could be Shatty that is bought out, since he doesn't have to go through waivers. - 2sticks1puck
We could only hope Shatty is bought out. The only better thing would be if he was claimed. Maybe a team is willing to pay him the 6.6 but not give up assets for him. We’ll know by 5 PM tomorrow

You and I have much different opinions on the rebuild. I would never have signed Panarin, which has put us in this position and continued to the rebuild with the draft and acquired assets and let these awful contracts expire in 2 yrs along with Hanks contract coming off the books..
But since we are in this position now we are in trouble. Trading anyone of the three has to be out because I think if there was a deal it would have been made already. Other GMs know we are in Cap trouble and I doubt anyone of them will be helping us out.
Is it possible Shatty is claimed? I bet he would be, and then we would lose an asset but gained cap space. Who wants to give away assets though? Bad business practice. Buying out Shatty gives us relief now but a 6 mil cap hit next year so it doesnt even make sense to buy him out since we will be in the same boat next year.
Buying out Smith and Staal isnt enough, so now we have to start to trade players who have substantial value, but at a discount. I dont want to trade CK20. Strome is a good second or third line center at a reasonable 3mil per. Names is someone who had drawn alot of fire to because it was perceived he had a bad year. He had to learn a new system under a new coach which is sometimes hard to do and numbers wise it was a down year, but he did go from playing with Stammer and Kuch to playing with Vessey and Mcleod, but look at the whole year. Names started the season on the bench and in the dog house, scratched a few times to ending the season playing in most game situations. Names earned his ice time that Quinn gave him. It seems like Quinn trusted Names a lot more, that tells me he is a young player who matured and grew. He is a valuable asset but yet another player who might be sold off for less than market value.
The thing is the big three players were available for months and werent traded for one reason or another. Thats not a good sign. So we will be eating poop sandwiches I think.
How would I do it if I was thrown into this situation? Id have to make trades that I dont want to make.
We will know soon enough what JG has up his sleeve - Brukie
I mean i can understand people being hesitant about accelerating the rebuild, but its not every year a generational player like Kakko falls in your lap, one of the top 10 scorers since he entered the league is a free agent and you trade for a top paring RH D man in his mid 20s. Now that we are here, have to do whatever we can to cut some of this dead weight. Honestly if it was me, I would look strong and hard about getting rid of Hank but that isn't an option. Staal/Shatty one or both have to go.

As much as I want to remain optimistic I think if anyone was willing to pay $6.6 NY would give them Shatty and a 5th rd pick in exchange for a 6th and make it more than free. Maybe there are teams willing but the NMC crosses them off the list

Kakko isn’t generational. Mcdavid is and kakko is no mcdavid. Either is Hughes

It's been a really great summer for Rangers fans. Maybe we should all go check out the Wild or Sens boards for a while to find out what real struggles look like

Very much after the fact, of course... my understanding is #Isles were in the mix for Gusev but weren't so hot on the contract ask. - jimbro83
Isn't that always Lou's MO, I mean all his years in Jersey, the only star he went out to sign was Kovulchuck. Gomez wasn't resigned the are others but like I said this is his MO

Like I said earlier, he'll probably fall short of expectations, but will still be a decent player. $4.5M isn't a deadly contract, but I'd rather have Buch (poor comp, I know, but both are Russian so ) every day of the week.
