Anyone with a NMC doesn't and you can just buy them out. It's why it's almost certain it's Shatty they are buying out, unless they do the unthinkable and buyout Staal.

gotcha, so is it even possible now that Smith or Stinky get bought out since they haven't already been placed on waivers? Do they have to clear waivers by 5:00 to be bought out, or just put on waivers by 5:00 (for the players that do not have NMC's)

I couldn't tell you for sure. Cap friendly says that they can't be bought out until the player clears waivers though.

Yeah if I recall he never got higher than the AHL and was gone relatively quickly, that's cool though. Always nice to have your kid learning from a former pro.
