Here is a good article about the fame buyouts that everyone is clamoring for

https://www.blueshirtbant...angers-jeff-gorton-buyout

Buyouts =

it's not like we don't all know this, but they need 8 million in space, it has to happen

if they can't make trades, they need to do it, and they have until 5pm today

I read the article unfortunately, hes not saying anything we dont know already. Furthermore, hes making it seem like we will be in a cap crisis next year, which we will not. We would have about 13-15mil in cap space to work with.

With most of our roster on ELCs or bridge contracts were in a very fortunate situation.

Dont buyout players have to go on waivers first? So wouldn't they have to have put them on waivers already, or can they put them on waivers at 4:55PM, then buy them out at 4:56PM?
- vroppelt

I thought he had to have passed through waivers first before he could be bought it.

So then that would rule out a buyout of Smith or Names at this point since they weren't put on waivers yesterday?

There seem to be 2 options
1) they have a deal in place that will fix everything
2) Players who have NMCs can maybe skip the waivers and just be shown the door, or maybe we are misunderstanding this and as long as the intent is made known before 5 they are good to go

Only way I can make sense of this.

I thought a buyout candidate had to have at least 2 years left

Did half our team get taken off waivers yet, or did we buy them all out?

I just flagged you by mistake.

What's up, I have been reading along a little but it appears as though nothing is really happening.

They really should put the flag button far away from the quote button. Its like putting a hooker right next to a confessional.

I have no idea whats going on. Probably just going to have to forfeit some games

Just seems like we are playing chicken if trades aren't made by the end of this buyout period and we do not buy out.

OMG PLEASE (Yes all in caps) enlighten me on how we will have 13-15 million in cap space next year?? Does this include the 6 million cap hit if Shatty is bought out today or that is without the buyout?? I cant wait to read this explanation.

Kreider 4.625 + Namestnikov 4 + Beleskey 1.9 + Fast 1.85 is 12.375 as a start.

I'm sure they have a plan. Its not like Trouba and Panarin were surprises. I cant imagine they were like "awesome, we got theses guys" and now they are like "holy crap, there is a cap". Might be some moves we don't like, but whatever they are, we are still a way stronger team now than the one that ended the season

That is true; I think if we are buying out; Gorton will wait until 4:59 to submit to the league
