Know your facts first, prior to criticizing others, and SOLELY me it seems here lately again.
The trade between the Avs and Leafs with the key components exchanged being Barrie and Kadri, DID NOT OCCUR UNTIL JULY 1ST, 2019.
Kreider was nearly dealt to the Avs for their 16th overall pick JUST PRIOR TO THE NHL DRAFT, WHICH WAS HELD ON JUNE 21ST & 22ND, 2019, with the Avs balking out as I initially stated in that first comment on this blog.
So that potential trade of Kreider to the Avs in exchange for their 16th Overall Pick in Round One, never went through due to the Avs deciding to retain that pick, and NOT DUE TO THE BARRIE "+", FOR KADRI "+" TRADE HAVING ALREADY PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED, AS YOU INCORRECTLY STATED, blueshirts-fan!! - RangerSaver
The flashpoint for your temper is a little low in this heat, isn't it Saver?
EVERYONE on here gets jabs from others from time to time. You are not the only one being picked on here. But to be blunt, you've got a lot of nerve calling out someone else's English when you outright refuse to heed anyone's view that your writing is hard to follow and what would be generally considered improper. You insist that you write for a living, but if that is true your editor must make a killing.
You would find a lot more ribbing on here about it if most people hadn't just taken to skipping your posts altogether.
Not trying to be mean, just didn't think your rant was justified. |

I don't see how we could buy out Smith and Shatty. That dead cap charge next season would be lethal. Someone in the last thread shows the Names buyout. That's a better option IMO. Smith and Names almost makes it work. - 2sticks1puck
if Shatty is still here next year he'd be 6.5 mil cap hit, and you can't tell me at least 3 of these young defensemen won't be ready by then, Rykov needs to play by then or he's going back to Russia
so to me whether or not Shatty is here next year or not, he's 6 million in dead cap space either way in 2020-21
at least get 5.1 mil of space this year by buying him out now |

People make that argument and I get it. The problem is we need the entirety (or most) of his cap hit gone to make the numbers work both the next two seasons. We do get a ton of saving this year and a tiny bit next year, I'm just worried about the other moves we'd have to make next summer. Granted you could let Names and Strome both walk. If that's the case though, you better hope that all 3 young guys are ready in 20-21. |

they need to make those same moves next summer whether Shatty is here or not
2020-21 cap hit is the same whether he's here or bought out
desperation times to get this year's team cap compliant, worry about next summer then |

Andrei Vasilevskiy’s eight-year extension with #tblightning is for $76 million ($9.5 million AAV), same as Nikita Kucherov. Kicks in after next season. |

do you play Shatty on the powerplay over Tony D? - jimbro83
PP1 = Skjei + Trouba
PP2 = ADA + Fox or ADA + Forward or ADA + Shatty
so to answer your question: no |

With all of their players having high cap hits, I think at this point you and me might be playing on their depth lines. |

Not really though. If they are cap compliant for this season with Shatty still on the roster, he doesn't add any cap. I know his cap hit is higher with him on the roster, but you already accounted for that. I think if you get cap compliant by buying out Smith and Names, G's cap hit going down next season accounts for all of that extra dead cap next summer.
With Belesky getting buried, I'm pretty sure we'd be close to fine. |

I've gone over every possible scenario and there's nothing changing my own mind that buying out Shatty is the best solution
5.1 mil of instant relief, no other buyout comes close, and then when you take into account the situation on the right side of the blue line, my mind is made up |

The guy has a point, posters come on here and make asinine post with nothing to justify their idea. From totally incorrect statements as he pointed out to saying just giving players away as if its so easy and as if its good asset management.
He pointed out that his facts were completely wrong and called hm out. If you post something there has to be some kind of accountability doesnt it??
The Rangers are in cap hell now, whether we agree on the signing of Panarin or not. We have to hope Gorton and JD had some kind of plan and not just to give away our players and picks to become cap compliant. If that was the case, IMO that is just terrible business.

Just so we don't go around in circles, let's see how we could make this work. I'd imagine you'd let Names, Strome, and Quickie all walk next year. That would be 9 million saved, plus you get an extra 900k for not having to carry around Belesky's buried hit, plus the extra 2.5 million from G's cap hit going down.
At that point are we going to commit to trade Kreider? We'd need some cheap roster players at that point. Or do you try to resign. Krieder and hope internal options are better (someone like Barron) |

You certainly have a point there. I didn't feel the manner in which it was dealt with was justified, that's all.
From what Gorton has shown us since taking over, I am confident he wasn't walking blindly into this situation. Sometimes a little faith is difficult to muster up, but I think it's warranted here. |

It's easy to understand everyone wanting these moves to happen now, but a previous post mentioned how Nam can be traded for a mid round pick now. Gorton has that in his pocket and is simply holding out...Same goes for the D. Eventually (week or two) he will pull the trigger. Hopefully, some decent returns can be had, if not than a pick or two in return and/or buyout will occur. Either way, it's not like these moves won't/can't happen. They will and this season will be a good start to alot of playoff appearances, and hopefully a CUP!! |

What if Strome continues his level of play this season? Wouldn't let him walk and we're still in trouble. Gorton got us into part of this mess, let's see how he gets us out. |
