Let's just wait till Wednesday before we get too worked up. Speculation is pointless cause we have no clue what the next moves are.

Yeah, think we're in tough shape against the cap? Whew!
- Fenrir

I hope in a few years we are in cap hell, that would mean our young players are playing out of their minds

I just don't see the point in arguing which players to buy out. If someone gets bought out and people are upset then yea feel free to go at it. But we don't even know if its happening yet

Hey buddy, I just got back from Cooksburgh PA for a week way with the kids for a family reunion, that anywhere close to you?

What if Strome continues his level of play this season? Wouldn't let him walk and we're still in trouble. Gorton got us into part of this mess, let's see how he gets us out.
- Fenrir

That would make things interesting. Strome is an RFA though, you could try to trade his rights if he becomes a star. Names is a UFA for him, so if you can't work out a trade in the next 48 hours a buyout could be a real option.

I'm hoping that a trade could get worked out, but I just wonder if that was possible if it would have went down by now. Unfortunately, we really don't have the luxury of waiting until camp and seeing if another team has injuries where they would need to get him.

People keep talking about next year if we buyout Shatty, dont know how many times it needs to be said that it will not affect us cap wise next year. Sure we have a hefty amount of dead cap, but because of all the ELCs and bridge contracts we have it wont matter.

Plus Staal and Nam's contracts will be gone along with shedding some small contracts like Lettieri, etc.

This is all about fitting in ADA and Lemieux this year...correct?

Staal wont be gone, but if they decide to buy him out it wont hurt them.

I did the math buying out Shatty and Staal, signing Lemieux at 2m and ADA at 3m, and we would have around 15m in cap space (assuming a small cap increase to 83m).

Well that's up to him and how he plays. Last year, I think Quinn didn't fully trust him. Hopefully, he earns more playing time and is rewarded for it.

You could be right. I might have gotten Pete's family situation confused with JRR's.
