Settle down kid

You seem oddly intimidated by Montreal's burgeoning prospect pool, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised you are from North Carolina, right?

What if a one-year, $15 million offer sheet for Marner comes on July 30th?
- Atomic Wedgie

Buckle up. It's coming. Yzerman is all set to sign Marner to an offer sheet so he can play in Tampa with Stamkos, Kucherov and Point.

Nobody is saying it's the best contract ever, it's the going rate for Elite goalies and taking the tax disadvantage that handicaps Canadian teams in to account

(that Buttman doesn't seem to think is a huge issue for some reason...I wonder why..we all know why)

Bob gets 10M and Vasi gets 9.5M in markets that have no tax and you're sitting here trying to tell me that Price making a mill more is so outrageous. Get the (frank) out with that bullpoop

You're just an anti-Pricer, you cry that we paid that much to keep him here yet you'd be whining that we don't have a goalie if we had just let him walk

- Komisaurus Rex

It's seriously mindboggling how something like a state not having an income tax gets twisted into "that have no tax."....since when did we start giving even a noticeable percentile of our income to state tax?

If I'm Yzerman, I drop Marner to the 2nd line with LeCavalier and Andreychuk.

And he'll be sick on the PK with Canadian Olympian Rob Zamuner.

Calfornia can be quite high, but yeah, you'd be living in California.

And nobody seems to want to mention what state governments do to make up for low income tax rates.

Don't we also need to compare property taxes? Sales taxes?

Yzerman will be bringing back Maltby and Draper to play with Zamuner. The "we should never have been picked to play for Team Canada" line.

Also have to remember that athletes don't get fully taxed based on where they live. It's extremely complex and based on where they are earning the money. So when Tampa goes on a road trip to California that "income" is taxed in California, not Florida. So their actual tax rate is blended across numerous jurisdictions, including Canada, with their home state being the largest "weight" . But it's far more complicated than fans make it out to be, and less of an advantage than its typically portrayed.

Is this really directed at Leafs fans?

Holy poop, you really are terrible at trolling, aren't you?

FFS, the Leafs have been franking horrible for 50 years, and there's still a 200 year waiting list for season tickets.

Hell, the problem with Leafs fans is that they've been far too loyal over the years.

Why are you so angry all the time at Toronto?

Might be time to get some therapy.

- Atomic Wedgie

Angry at Toronto? I'm a Raps and Jays fan you donk

Every time I post a comment you lot get triggered, there's about 10 of ya that lose your sh!t every single time. If my "trollling" is terrible none of you would respond to any of my comments. The fact the usual suspects get your knickers in a bunch and start rage posting memes and GIFs would illustrate that you may be the ones who are offended. It's just hockey chirps at the end of the day, no need to get bent out of shape

Just an alternative perspective

yeah I'm horrified of a team that hasn't even sniffed the cup in 26 years

the only way the Habs get Laine is if they trade at least half of their prospects

- jtylerm

What does the Habs impressive prospect pool they've been accumulating have to do with previous teams?

Your little chod you have on for the Habs is hilarious, you need to stick to what you know bubs and that's NASCAR not hockey

The Habs have a very good prospect pool but I wouldnt call it impressive. Its finally good but until these guys play like stars in the NHL nobody will be impressed yet. Domi has been very good for you guys. What a steal of a trade.

Cap hell with a roster full of elite talent and a deep prospect pool rotating in on ELC's is a great problem to have. Assuming Point is signed also, the Bolts core will consist of Vasi, Kucherov, Stamkos, Point, Hedman, McDonagh. All the rest are just accessory parts. Guys like Killorn, Palat, Johnson, and Gourde are all expendable if cap martyrs are needed to keep the core intact. Callahan is going on LTIR. The Lightning have at least one and maybe two rookie forwards ready to crack the lineup out of camp. Foote will be ready for primetime next season and will be cost controlled. Things will be tight under the cap and a contract or two might have to be moved, but it's doable.

Briesbois was tutored by Yzerman. I am confident some of Yzerman's cap wizardy rubbed off on Briesbois as well.

Exactly. Yzerman probably told BriseBois before he left that signing Vasilevsky this summer was the first priority. Point was second priority. Probably even had a PowerPoint presentation to map it all out.

The Leafs aren't screwing around and the Flyers have a "No BS attitude." RFAs are scared of PTOs. Bergy's making a big Splash. Killer offer sheets. Bedlam. July 31st Marner deadline. We won't hear it publicly but this may be the end of the NHL as we know it.
- gergeswillems

I can't even think of anything relevant to add

Who are you quoting here EK???

I am told the Leafs and Marner talks could shift drastically if there isn't movement by the end of July. How? "The trade route will have to be taken more seriously and Marner's group is aware of that shift. The Leafs aren't screwing around."
