If I'm Yzerman, I drop Marner to the 2nd line with LeCavalier and Andreychuk.
And he'll be sick on the PK with Canadian Olympian Rob Zamuner. - Atomic Wedgie
I could see Marner excelling under Tortorellas guidance. |

I wonder if Puljujarvi still being unsigned is because Chiarelli didn't consider it a priority this summer? |
|
|
|
Do you pay attention? Winnipeg only has 13M in cap space. Need to sign Connor and Laine. The Habs, IF they get Laine, will NOT be paying market value! It’s Winnipeg who is screwed against the cap! Or we’ll take Connor instead! - DodgeSoups
Yup Winnipeg is out there offering up Laine for peanuts lol. I think they are closer to 15 mil in cap space and teams are allowed to make other moves. One of them probably gets bridged is all. Relax |
|
|
|
My bad..... still, 2 more forwards at 1M each, leaves 15.5... Laine and Conner will each be in the 9M range.
Either way, Winnipeg is still trading from a point of weakness. Whoever they sign first (Laine or Conner), the other is gone, via crap value trade or offer sheet. Winnipeg has no salary to dump anywhere. Unless they trade a good roster player. Whether it’s the Habs, or someone else, Winnipeg is losing a high end player. - DodgeSoups

The Habs have a very good prospect pool but I wouldnt call it impressive. Its finally good but until these guys play like stars in the NHL nobody will be impressed yet. Domi has been very good for you guys. What a steal of a trade. - systemtool
This might be your least bias comment about the Habs. Well done!
Yes, they are just prospects until we see what they can do at the NHL level. Habs have never had this strong of a prospect group for as long as I can remember if ever so it's exciting, here's to hoping at least a few of them hit and become stars in the league. It's in your best interest too as we would like to restore the greatest rivalry in hockey and get some very good playoff series in the foreseeable future

Jets have almost $18M to sign 6 forwards. Four of those guys will be kids or cheap vets all making under $1M. That leaves about $15M for Laine and Connor. If that's not enough they can easily buy out a guy like Perreault or dump him to a team with excess cap space. A team like Columbus might take on a guy like Perreault for some added depth if the Jets included a nice pick. Kulikov is another guy they can easily buy out and create another $3M+ of cap space. So the Jets definitely have flexibility that people don't understand.
Alternatively, if you signed a guy like Chris Kunitz to a PTO...Laine and Connor would probably just panic in fear and sign for less than market value. RFAs are afraid of PTOs. |

While this was expected to be tough, sources tell me Yzerman deemed Andrei Vasilevskiy's deal necessary to get done prior to Brayden Point...

Montreal doesn't have the assets to trade for Laine. Laine is only 21 and is VERY likely to be a yearly 40-50 goal scorer. Drouin is garbage and is 26, I think. The idea that Drouin, a 1st round pick, and a B level prospect is going to be fair value for Laine is a joke.
Montreal just doesn't have what it SHOULD take to get Laine. But Chevy is a moron, an earthworm would be a smarter GM, so anything is possible. - jtylerm

Is this really directed at Leafs fans?
Holy poop, you really are terrible at trolling, aren't you?
FFS, the Leafs have been franking horrible for 50 years, and there's still a 200 year waiting list for season tickets.
Hell, the problem with Leafs fans is that they've been far too loyal over the years.
Why are you so angry all the time at Toronto?
Might be time to get some therapy. - Atomic Wedgie
