"Low-Balling" is when the proposer has no justification for a lower priced proposal. Usually when the offering is commanding the seller to accept a lower than asking price for the property without the aid of a Value Added Realtor, it can be construed as very offensive and disrespectful |

Without knowing who their signings are going to be? Who they're trading for? What THOSE contracts are going to be?
Please.
That's a great way to hamstring yourself into cap trouble, by negotiating with non essential players in-season. - Powerslave
locking up e-rod at 2 per and ullmark at 1.7 per to be the backup goalie is not what hamstrings the sabres cap
it's the
scandella, okposo, sobotka, hunwick, bogos that handcuff them
1/4 of our cap is
scandella, okposo, sobotka, hunwick and bogo
21.5 mil |

Erod is the next Erik Condra.
No matter how much people say he’s “really good” he will be a bottom 6 guy for a few years then be out of the league by 30.
As someone who completely respects his underlying numbers, he’s just not a guy who’s ever going to have a defined role/position |

Giving yourself flexibility for a longer period is what he did by not signing them to deals mid-season.
And, really, why does it matter to the two of you when these players are signed? |

I don't know what we have in e-rod due to clueless coaching over the last few years
could be a decent 3rd liner who can move up in a pinch
could be an energy 4th liner that pk's |

He's a 4C PK guy who can play up a couple lines at any position if needed.

just keep low balling these guys and watch the sabres get a worse reputation then they already have
terry needs to drill that well as it is becoming clear the money is no object anymore for the sabres was a lie |

I feel like this would make more sense if the Sabres hadn't just paid skinner $72m
This is all about the cap crunch and Botterill not wanting to clear redundant and useless players without getting a "value" return back, whatever the hell that means
Get rid of three useless players and the penny pinching is unnecessary. Or Botterill is just bored |

I get it, but that is no raise from what he made last year. (Cap hit was 750 made 800k)
I’m surprised it is that low.
If all 4 Sabres go to arb that’s more than the rest of the NHL Combined. Botts gotta be careful about low balling players. May not be a good look. - ImThatGuy
Players might not want to sign in Buffalo?
Maybe you carry 11 nhl defenseman as a back up plan, and look at trades to build a team? |

They're 3 million from the cap ceiling. Regardless of how they got there (Murray, Botterill, the tooth fairy), they're not low balling players, and that's certainly NOT a recent reputation this organization has and you know it. |

i have been married for 12 years.. if my wife asked me to make her ravioli at 8:30 in the morning i would text her a link to a mapping thing that showed her how to get to an italian restaurant because we both would have been at work for at least an hour.. |

Penny pinching by 50-a few hundred k on 5-10 low level players can open up an extra mil or two for a player that matters.
This is Botts specialty. He’s undeniably good at managing the salary cap |

yeah.. he isn't not a great goalie but i gotta think a full time nhl back up should get at least 1.5 mil |

Yeah, those Scandella, Sobotka and Hunwick contracts are great.
I know, Terry made Botterill take Sobotka in a trade. He's always been one of Terry's favorites |

Perhaps the player had arb in their sights the whole time. - Powerslave
Do you think ellie, erod , McCabe and ullmark formed a players "pack or union".
I know your excited about the concert a week from Tuesday, but ........ 4 guys leans towards a team issue
How many arbitrations has jbotts had since he was hired? |
