just keep low balling these guys and watch the sabres get a worse reputation then they already have
terry needs to drill that well as it is becoming clear the money is no object anymore for the sabres was a lie - homiedclown
Did Kim tell Terry to tell botts to low ball? |

Yeah, those Scandella, Sobotka and Hunwick contracts are great.
I know, Terry made Botterill take Sobotka in a trade. He's always been one of Terry's favorites - jcragcrumple
to be fair.. when we traded for Scandella we expected him to be decent therefore that contract wasn't considered horrible... the other one in that deal was though.. pommer |

None of those players are on the roster past this season, which is the most important part of this fact pattern. Term is much more important than salary when it comes to managing a hard cap. |

I get it, but that is no raise from what he made last year. (Cap hit was 750 made 800k)
I’m surprised it is that low.
If all 4 Sabres go to arb that’s more than the rest of the NHL Combined. Botts gotta be careful about low balling players. May not be a good look. - ImThatGuy
For virtually scrub players?
They just paid Skinner $9M, Jack $10m.
I don't think they will get a rep of cheap if they low ball a Goalie after his 1st year in which he had very pedestrian numbers

Do you think ellie, erod , McCabe and ullmark formed a players "pack or union".
I know your excited about the concert a week from Tuesday, but ........ 4 guys leans towards a team issue
How many arbitrations has jbotts had since he was hired? - Boss34
Really? Giving Skinner all that money is a team issue?
Or are we just going to start bashing the owners again because we're all bored because the GM hasn't made a trade in 2 weeks?
The guy was Pittsburgh's cap specialist before he was assistant gm. I think he knows what he's doing with regard to that. |

He acquired those deals, which is the same as inking a player to the deal. He assumed responsibility of the contracts |

Pommer was our 4th leading goal scorer last year.
Both guys were brought into work with the young guys and pick early |

It's silly to have them on the roster this season. They're redundant as best, and closer to hindrances |

Whether we agree with it or not, I think next season was Botterill's target to really start to make big moves. He has set himself up nicely for that. |

Paying skinner all that money could become a "team issue" if it's not already.
I'm not bashing the pegulas, I'll still grateful they purchased both teams.
I agree, botts knows what hes doing, but 4 guys isnt a coincidence. It's a plan to keep salaries low. (By balling)

They're average players, at best, though.
Ullmark? Terrible stats.
McCabe? Always hurt?
Elie. No comment.
Ask yourself if we can live without all these players that took the team to arbitration.
St Louis had 5 players file, Calgary had 4 players file, Montreal, New Jersey and Colorado had 3 each.
They must all be low balling their players.

How is paying skinner an issue? The team knows he can score 30-40 goals a season.
As for botts low balling our RFAs.... arbitration is a game. One side goes low. One goes higher.
Botts went low to try and keep the cap hits low.

How is QO now defined as a lowball offer.
If that is true, then they are in GREAT shape with company from virtually 30 other teams.
C'mon man, you are much better than this.
Fact is, Erod is worth about $1.5-1.75 in reality. Due to Arb, he is slightly overpaid...his QO of $2.2m makes him dangerously close to becoming completely expendable and likely a TDL candidate

They also are worth a lot in terms of trades - sbroads24
Good defensive depth certainly can be worth a lot, but somehow the Ducks managed to get very little for theirs. Let’s hope Botts doesn’t Duck this up. |
