If Lord H doesn't show up with his Rick Flair Gif soon I am going to take over for him.

Let’s revisit whether it’s a good take when we’re watching the TBL select Antonio Stranges with our pick.

The 3rd round pick was for the most recent draft.

Irrelevant, the trade was for a 1st and 3rd. Once those selections have been made and another 5 years to see how they picks turn out, too much time and many different factors come into play.

For example, I still think the Schneider for 9th overall pick was a terrible trade. Horvat has turned out to be a steal and Schneider has struggled but that has very little to do with the trade value and more to do with development/injuries/deterioration.

Miller is definitely worth a mid to late first and 3rd. If it ends up being a top 10 pick, it's a bigger risk.

In any other year, maybe. IMO our 2020 1st should have been untouchable. Protected wasn’t enough.

Canucks will be finally hosting a NHL lineup. There will be other years to pick first round picks and there is no reason Canucks can not replace that pick.

I would much rather surround Pettersson with NHL skill that waiting for this draft pick years down the road developing into a NHL skilled player.

That was the price for trying to improve and develop the group now. The longer the delay the more it will cost later and the cap doesn't give much room to maneuver.

The player he listed is a top 10 player. Canucks would not lose that pick. They only give up a first round pick next year if they make the playoffs.

Wait for JTM to put up 65 points with Bo, we make the play offs, and Tampa gets the 23rd pick

IMO, he is. New rankings (today) by Kournianos (@TheDraftAnalyst) had him 31st

The 2020 Draft is un(frank)ingreal & I’m really not looking forward to watching TB make our selection. I could have said a dozen+ names other than Stranges. Oh well, it is what it is.

Boeser-Pettersson-Demko-Hughes...absolutely have to start surrounding these guys with NHL talent. Pettersson doesn't seem like the kind of guy that will wait 5 years for playoffs so the Benning whiners on HB can cry about lost draft picks.

Maybe a Tanev package can land the Canucks a 1st later in the season. I'd do back flips if JB replaced the traded pick.

I think the days of Tanev for a 1st are a pipedream now, he had more years left on his deal before, and his value was seemingly at an all-time high after the TO media raved about him and Rielly as a pairing at the WHC's a couple of years ago.

Maybe he rebounds his value playing with Hughes though, assuming both stay healthy.

I agree. I couldn't imagine him landing a 1st on his own but with a 2nd player with salary retained and closer to the deadline, it may be a package a playoff team finds very appealing.

With today's signing of Gusev , Redmiles chances of sending Frolik to NJ are getting slimmer.

I can't really recall too many instances of a 1st round pick traded for a package. Usually it's the other way around.

Miller's zone entries are very impressive. Best per hour on TB last season and beats everyone on the Canucks as well. Canucks are desperate for that.

So a package for a 1st rounder then... perfect. That's what I'm suggesting.

No, what I'm saying is:

1st rounders traded for a package = rare

1st rounders traded in a package for a high level player = more common

GM's usually only part with 1sts when they feel like their the ones trading for the most valuable asset in the trade, not the other way way around.

Highly doubt we sell anything at the TDL. If anything, we probably spend our 2nd as a buyer - all excited about being a couple points to the positive side of the bubble.
