That's what I figure also. I don't believe it is a generational draft at all . It could be a little better than this years or a little worst but every one of the top twenty picks is not going to be a top line player.

However, when you look at some of the better drafts in history there are few busts and the list of multiple game all-star players is long. I'd rather they miss the playoffs this year and make it next which is a likely scenario.

I don't mind the JTM trade personally. I'd rather do JTM (actual NHL games and 5.25M) for a 1st vs gusev for a 2 and 3 at 4.5 for only 2 years.

If Benning had actually convinced ownership (when he was hired) that a rebuild was required, would the team be just where they are right now (Hughes, Petey, Boeser, Woo, Podsey, Hogey etc) or would they be cup contenders (or more on their way)?

Obviously, no one knows for sure, but what do you think?

After seeing years of being bad , tanking and good drafting the Leafs have not made it out of the first round.

Oilers have drafted 4 x first picks and have not come close.

Winning it all is more than tanking and drafting

Many smaller players cannot translate it to nhl. Also v-pod was #3 ranked for a long time, even 2 for awhile.
I have no claim as to who will come out on top of this but it is possible for either player

We’ve gotten pretty good at missing the playoffs, this is still a bubble team so as much as management is hoping for a different outcome the central hasn’t really gotten any weaker

Many teams are waiting for the shoe to drop on signings having some roster juggling yet to do. I agree with VANTEL we will see JB swing another trade.
