When will Yman and Holland hook up and make a trade.... Kris Russell would be a gret fit next to Danny D

All joking aside, I do think the Oilers and Wings would make good trading partners. I’m very curious to see if Yzerman and Holland seek each other out.

I see Yzerman maybe swapping a Mantha for Bouchard type deal. We need defensive prospects, you guys need scoring wingers.

I could see us moving Bear or Jones... the return on Bouchard would need to be hefty.

A 6’4” speedy goal scorer who is basically McDavids age isn’t enough? I would think it is. Especially for Holland.

If Mantha came with term, I’d be agreeing with you. His lack of term, and the financial benefits of Bouchard’s ELC hold me back however.

This is Yzerman we’re talking about. He could negotiate a good, friendly contract before a trade for you guys.

According to ek he’s still running things in Tampa so your point is moot.

I wouldn't move Bouchard for Mantha. I'd go as far as Jones and a pick as our LD are pretty set (Klefbom, Nurse, Broberg, Samorukov and Lagesson), but trading our best hope at a scoring RD to fix a problem that can be addressed for cheaper doesn't strike me as wise.

Wouldn’t touch Jones without some seriously high picks coming back.

Not keen on a LD or is it a concern you have with Jones?

It’s not a knock on Jones, I’ve no problem with him. He’s just not the caliber player is want for a Mantha swap. Our prospect pool is filled with second pairing potential, especially on the left. Bouchard is something that might put us on the map for a fully loaded prospect pool.

Y'all have Hronek; be content with one potential top pairing offensive RD

Goaltending will be great, koskinen will be solid and Smith was great second half of last season...like the odds of some speedsters we have scoring with our three elite centers...defence should be solid as well, healthy klefbom and Larsson will def help...add some youth in will give the d a more mobile dynamic...

Best case, dude is solid value. But right or wrong, I just think oilers brass probably see the potential of what Bouchard might be (btw-I’m not as high on him as many are) is worth more than what we’ve seen from mantha thus far. Even at his best the previous season.

Gotta guess the only way they deal eb would be for a sure fire stud scorer.

Agreed on not being all too high on him. I think his chances of being an NHLer are very high, but his ceiling as far as outscoring opposition is less likely to be reached than a couple draft contemporaries picked after him.

Dobson >> Bouchard

I was pissed when they passed up on Dobson.
I mean it felt like they mainly picked Bouchard for his seemingly higher nhl readiness at the time.
Just an awful way to draft 18 year olds.

Bouch will be an nhl’er. And I think guys with offensive acumen like his can certainly be difference makers in today’s game. But the 1A stud everyone is thinking?? Very very apprehensive he’ll ever get close to that

I would feel a fair deal more pleased with our D system if Dobson replaced Bouchard. Not a major slight against Bouchard; I just agree with you. Dobson, Nurse, Broberg, Larsson/Klefbom, Jones/Samorukov and Lagesson would be a dreamy D pool

Bouch had more goals, assists, points than Dobson in the same amount of games in a tighter league at a younger age and as a bigger player. I am happy with his selection. Broberg however can go suck a bag of Richards. An unnecessary piece to our group of prospects. Not that he is a bad piece but not necessary for this group.

And Dobson is a better defender, stronger skater, is younger and has been a linchpin in two consecutive Memorial Cup wins. Also, Bouchard is only bigger if you mean by weight; otherwise, Dobson has 1-2 inches on him.

They're listed as being the same height and Bouch is list as 10-15lbs heavier. Bouch is a whopping 2.5 months older so i wouldn't grade that very much. I haven't watched either enough to judge their play, but the simple stats show that Bouch is better. I guess time will tell.
