Mixed emotions. I wonder why Nashville was willing to trade Subban. With the parity, it's really a crap shoot in the Metro.

Reason I asked is if after this season if you thought the Devils were further ahead of the Flyers in terms of contending if you were ok with them getting Subban and recently Gusev.

Personally, looking at it on paper. I don't see either the Rangers or Devils roster as superior to the Flyers. That's on paper. Games are played on the ice. Time will tell. I don't have an issue that the Flyers didn't specifically get Gusev. I have an issue that they didn't leave themselves the opportunity to take advantage of late developing opportunities without having to make some kind of other move to make it fit.

If you're going to come here, please, at least know what you're talking about. Bill has been very consistent in his message on Hextall.

So I watched Bird Box last night.

It was okay, I guess. Too much Blair Witch Project for me (people trapped, alone, running from unseen force). The only part that had me on edge was when she was going to make Girl take off her blindfold on the rapids. Other that that, it was okay.

Now let me go throw on a blindfold and drive on the interstate!

Perfect example of a team trying to go for it when they shouldn't.

Are they? Or did they just have way too many bad contracts?

I don’t think they are going for it, Panarin wanted to play there, they had to sign him, can’t walk away from a player of his caliber. Trouba is young and wanted to play in NY, I don’t believe he is a #1 D but their call. Beyond that they have built a good young pipeline. It is more of a matter of turning over their dead weight from when they went for it.

That said, RANGERS always have the draw of being in NY, players want to play there, they should be embarrassed they haven’t won more.

If NJ didn’t win the lottery 2 of the last 3 seasons, would they still be a franchise?

The comment was concerning the Shattenkirk buyout.

I missed it, are you referring to when they went for it before? When they sign Shattenkirk?

Or them going for it now?

Because you cant manage a team that way hoping opportunities arise. They may or may not. If there was something out there I have confidence they would make a move.

someone going to get a good deal when they sign shattenkirk imo. Will get him rather cheap as think can still help a team out.

From what I read I would agree with you. I kind of hate it because it gives Pitt or a similar team a cheap, good option

yeah maybe the AV connection......I kid as no need for him here.

Wouldn't be shocked if not even signed right away and gets a PTO with hand shake deal and signs after season once teams put guys on IR

Remains to be seen. Shattenkirk made his bread as an offensive point producer. That well seems to have dried up lately. He was never a good defender in his own zone. If he's not producing points, not really a good option.

The amazing thing about the Shattenkirk buyout is that the penalty in 20-21 is almost as much as his cap hit would have been. The Rags were truly desperate for 19-20 cap space.

All true but injuries and the overall debacle going on in NY had some effect on his game. He had a full offseason to work out and is in a prove it mode. I have G, summer and Patrick the benefit of the doubt when it came to injuries. That said, I don’t see him killing it but he will probably be a bargain for the right team
