In order to sign Gardiner to the Rags:

Current Cap: -$4,156,466
Cap after buyout: $1,010,201
Cap after demoting Matt Belesky: $1,885,201
Cap after demotiong Greg McKegg: $2,635,201
Cap after signing Brendan Lemieux: $1,885,201 ($750,000)
Cap after signed Tony DeAngelo: -$114,799 ($2,000,000)

Good to see Gardiner will make less than zero dollars playing for the Rangers. They must trade one of Kreider, Namestnikov, Strome or Fast to even be cap compliant. (Reasonable trade chips excluding new contracts and ELCs). They need to trade at least two to sign him.

This bills season all depends on josh Allen.

The defense is great, they reloaded at o line and sort of receiver.

If josh plays average. 3,500 yards 25 tds We can win 9 games.

Projected starting center Morris in concussion protocol after sitting 5 games last year with same, making it his 5th or 6th concussion suffered over the past 3 seasons or so. Not good.
Backup center Long has nerve damage to the hand he uses to hike the ball. Not Good.
3rd string center R Bodine is, well, is Russel Bodine. Not good.

They better hope they can find a way for Morris to not experience more concussions.

I really wish this guy would just friggin sign already. This feels like the longest off-season ever! Once he signs, I believe a lot of movement will take place again.

Indeed. But if the rumored 1st round pick + for Kreider wasn't enough can be believed, no ones going to bite.

However, that was before they signed Panarin. The league knows the Rags are in a corner. If/When they trade one of the select group of guys, they will be 'Skinner-esq' trades. Lowballing, if you will. I know that's a hot topic right now.

Eh. Poppycock. 31 teams know where they stand with him. Maybe it's down to 2 or 3 at most. The rest of the league is free to shuffle at their leisure.

There is somewhat of a parallel to be made, although the Bills have made the playoffs with mcbeane so I think they have some more leeway

The 8-8 of the NHL is something like 35-35-12 for 82 points. So 9-7 is like 39-33-10 and that would be 88 points.

So if the Sabres go 9-7 and miss the playoffs, I'm cool with that

- jcragcrumple

So at 8-8 would you fire McBeane?

9 potential arb hearings. Sabres are 4 of those. I don't even know what to make of that. These are auxiliary players, so it probably doesn't matter, but I'm going to be irritated if he takes Reinhart to arb next year.

There was some article or tweet or something that mentioned that Gardiner had a handshake deal with a team, but needed to wait for them to clear out a high priced D. Some people here thought it was Buffalo (Risto) while others thought it was NYR (Shat).

Essentially, the rumor that "a team is clearing defensive space for him based on a handshake deal" then Rags go about buying out Shat 2 or 3 days later.

Personally, I believe it's bullpoop that he can even sign with the Rags unless the trade off two forwards for picks/prospects.
