The last two seasons:

53 games played
59 games played

They can and will use it against him and they should

- Stripes77

Sure, but in 2017-18, it was Botterill's joint decision with McCabe to shut him down because the team was going nowhere. If they were playoff bound, he would have played

"McCabe underwent surgery on his thumb earlier this month and he hasn't played since Feb. 6. 'Jake has been progressing well in his recovery from his previous injury, but we decided that this was a good opportunity to take care of a problem that he has been dealing with for a while,' Sabres GM Jason Botterill said. 'Jake will have time to fully recover before the beginning of the 2018-19 season.'"

If the Sabres were in a playoff push, he wouldn't have been shut down for the season. He would have played through it. Not sure they can use that against him

but he's not good

McCabe asking for $4.3 is laughable though

The team is closer to what he will get than what McCabe asked for.

He gets somewhere between $2.75-$3 million per

- Stripes77

He's a tough case, when you take a quick look at RFA's who signed for a 4m or more you see guys like: Muzzin, Scandella, Maatta, Dumolin, Severson, Savard, Tanev, Zaitsev, Chychrun, Matheson, and DeKyser.

4.3m seems like too much, but he has a stronger case than the guys who have been settling in around 3m. His agent can easily make the case that he belongs on the list of 4m+ guys.

He's going to price himself out of Buffalo. It's a little sad, but inevitable.

I'm not a huge McCabe guy, but after Dahlin, he's the only reasonable LHD. Maybe pilut is ready to go.

Truthfully I don't really care how much or if they pay him

Are they going $8 million over the cap after signing all the defensemen?

At some point, you need a stable Fortune-500 type of business to stabilize the economy, though. No economy thrives on restaurants/establishments alone. Its best bet is for one of these start-ups to hit it big. Unfortunately, even that's not a guarantee, because usually when a start-up starts to add real value, a much bigger company buys it up, or at least the intellectual property.

Great post ...... Buffalo needs a start up to actually stay here and grow. Buffalo right now has barely any middle tier positions.

Adding 12 dollar an hour call center jobs is not progress. The only good jobs coming are the M&T bank IT jobs at Seneca tower.

The funny part is ..... Buffalo has a lot of student / talent from local colleges. Yet people graduate and have to move away to find a job.

DC has failed the last few movies .... I even didn’t like Aquaman

The dark knight Christian bale moves were the best Batman movies

It will be fun to see what James Gunn does with Suicide Squad.

Marvel temporarily firing him might have been the best thing that happened to DC in quite a while.

pretty sure that wasn't based on the dc movie franchise though

they do the superman, aquaman, suicide squad, wonder woman and justice league

and aside from man of steel, the worst marvel movie is probably better then any of those dc movies

I think Ullmark's offer is a little insulting to be honest. $800k is ELC money, not a legit ask for a 26 year old with 60 games played and a .910 sv%

- jcragcrumple

My take on this is that the Sabres should be selling Ullmark on being paid this year as a backup and signing a new contract next year as a starter. Perhaps the issue is a one way deal. Under his last contract his minors salary was only $70k. If I were Ullmark I would be betting on myself having a career year with a better defense and system in front of me and cashing in next summer.

You should have seen it 5, 10 years ago.
Alot has been done, but like the Sabres roster there is so much that needs to be done after suffering through about 45 years of decline and neglect.

That's only five states, Professor, not TEN.
