Carol Schram: 3 Canucks prospects at WJSS, Brock Boeser's dad's cancer has returned
Canucks fans can get a look at prospects Jett Woo and Carson Focht as well as returnee Toni Utunen as Canada and Finland face off on Wednesday at the World Junior Summer Showcase, broadcast on TSN. Also, Brock Boeser's dad is facing a tough battle as his lung cancer has returned, and Chris Higgins could be joining the Canucks in a player development role. |

Do you guys see Woo settling in on the bottom pairing once all the cuts are made and is he a lock or will he have to battle it out till the end to earn his spot ? |
|
|

Don’t think it’s a given, but I think he has a really good chance. Canada needs a guy like him to put a little fear in other players. |

Wonder why there isn't more mention of Canuck's Finish prospect Utunen. Looks like a cool steady D man that could be a minute munching puck mover. Like to see him on the Comets soon. Could be a depth call up option as next stage of development. |

Well Canada pushing back Woo with assist and part of the last pressure shift that got a PP for 3rd Canadian goal. I like Woo's chances for the final Canadian team.

Will butcher just signed to a 3 year deal with 3.7 per year. He's averaged 35 pts per season the past 2 seasons and has been arguably NJ's best dman.
Girard just signed a 7 year deal worth 5 per year.
Hes averaged 25 pts per season the past 2 seasons and is at best Colorado's 3rd best Dman.
Girard's deal is going to be a female dog of a yard stick in a couple of years.

He’ll probably make the team out of camp, pencil him in to the third pairing. |

Mindblowingly awful goaltending on both, but goals are goals. At least he’s putting it on net. |

My point was regarding style/skillset/potential. If age mattered when making a loose comp, it’d be almost impossible to make one |
