Rangers going to buy out Shattenkirk soon as the window opens again. Halfway through his contract . Next year will carry a 6 mil cap hit to buy him out.

I was reading an article the other day about how some random fellow who wrote an article said that he believes that the USHL is a better hockey league than the CHL leagues for talent.

I kind of wonder what the talent level difference is. Be sweet if they could make a tournament at the end of the year that all the winners and losers from the USHL, and CHL leagues could play a quick 4 games tournament. 2 groups of 4 teams. Pool winners to the finals.

Replace the memorial cup tournament.

You want to get rid of the Memorial Cup & forget those lost in the World Wars it honours?

I agree he is a long shot. With Tryamkin Woo Myers Hughes OJ his chances of making the team are not great.

That would be interesting. Hockey USA based on population, demographics and college opportunities has grown a lot. Wouldn't be surprised to see it surpass the CHL one day.

If OJ and Woo develop to potential and Tryamkin actually shows up to play like a top 4 then yes. But looking at the Avs makes the comparison sad.

I'm not for getting rid of honouring soldiers but for all the time i've watched the Memorial cup, it hasn't been about honouring the soldiers too much. I don't see why the next "tournament" could not honour the soldiers either. Canadian and American soldiers.

Maybe they could have a kick off game of Soldiers playing against each other.

Tournament just seems as if it could use some updating. Tweaking to the format.

I think it would be good for the game if the NCAA, CHL with AHL and NHL maybe came up with a newer more updated agreement.

Forcing CHL players to choose at pretty much 15-16 years old whether they want to go College or CHL routes. I certainly at that age didn't know what I wanted to do yet.

Yes something needs to change. But the NCAA is the big problem they are ruthless about eligibility.

Why do they need to choose at 15?

Will butcher just signed to a 3 year deal with 3.7 per year. He's averaged 35 pts per season the past 2 seasons and has been arguably NJ's best dman.

Girard just signed a 7 year deal worth 5 per year.
Hes averaged 25 pts per season the past 2 seasons and is at best Colorado's 3rd best Dman.

Girard's deal is going to be a female dog of a yard stick in a couple of years.

- belcherbd

Girard is 21 years old and the extension kicks in 2020-21. There's a really good chance the 2nd half of that deal is one of the better bargains in the league.

I would want to see a lot more from him to consider him a bargain at 5 million.

As soon as you play in the CHL you become ineligible for the NCAA. You can start playing in the CHL at 16 years old.

Itโ€™s known as guidance like they already did every step of the way. Besides itโ€™s very expensive and very few ever get a sniff.
